Dear colleagues,

We have openings for three postdoc positions and one research assistant position as part of our research project “Aggregating Safety Preferences for AI Systems: A Social Choice Approach,” funded by the Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA). Our project aims to develop and analyze new methods in computational social choice for eliciting and aggregating safety specifications for safeguarded AI systems.

Postdoc positions are available at:

 - University of Warwick (Coventry, UK) with Markus Brill
 - Hasso Plattner Institute (Potsdam, Germany) with Niclas Boehmer
 - University of Groningen (the Netherlands) with Davide Grossi

We seek candidates with a strong background in (computational) social choice, (algorithmic) game theory, and/or AI safety.

The positions are intended to begin in October 2025 and are offered for one year (Warwick and Potsdam) or two years (Groningen). The application deadline is June 15th, 2025.

At Warwick, we’re also hiring a research assistant. This position, for which a PhD degree is not required, has an earlier application deadline of June 1st, 2025.

For position details and application instructions, please visit the project homepage at https://sites.google.com/view/sc4ai/projects/aspai

Please forward this email to potentially interested candidates. Interested candidates are encouraged to reach out to express their interest or ask questions.

Best regards,
Markus Brill, Niclas Boehmer, Paul W. Goldberg, Davide Grossi, Jobst Heitzig, and Wesley H. Holliday
