Sent an inquiry on the Sc27 website last week without a response, figuring that mailbox doesn't get checked very often... Anyone here able to forward this to the powers that be? We have 2 boats in MdR, Witchcraft and Babushka (nee Don Quixote), We (ASMBYC) are getting together with all the fleets (J111 down to Lido14) along with organizing a couple PHRF fleets by ratings bands to promote racing and connecting crew with boats, etc. The guy organizing the effort will call us a fleet, and the guy in charge of the association next year (me) is all for it. I read the bylaws after I sent the email and see that they require 3 boats for a fleet, and we are promoting the boat as a reasonably priced alternative to J-boats. There is one that is semi-derelict in King Harbor, there's supposed to be one down in Dana Point, and there's always Gusto :) so we should be able to get to the magic number with a little help from the class. Whaddayasay?

It seems that your email has made it to the forum but no one has replied. I know Don Quixote because I was crew in nationals. I am also a friend of the family. I used to race out of MDR through CYC back in the 80's and love the area! I own Santa Cruz 27 "Gotcha" and love to crew for other boats. Have you joined the SC27 group?

Hello Witchcraft and Babushka,  Welcome to the fleet.  Its terrific that you are trying to grow the fleet. We agree with you about a great price point for entry.... plus the boats are awesome!

Let us know how we can support you and the growth of your fledging fleet?  Through this google group, we can provide a wealth of information and resources including rigging, maintenance, refit, etc....

Can you please send me the names, boat names, hull #'s, emails, and phone numbers of all SC27's you know of in Southern CA south of Santa Barbara?

Warm Regards,
Rick Raduziner

The thing is that right now, there are two in MdR, we have some people showing some interest, both Jasmine and I are promoting the boat, we have a guy involved who has built several fleets over the years, and I think a little exposure through the class association would help, sort of a "If you build it, they will come" thing. I know that the bylaws say three boats but is there a possibility of a provisional fleet or something that we could promote through the ASMBYC and SCYA. The guy in charge of fleets with the ASMBYC will list us as a fleet, no problem as his aim is to get people on the water, as is mine as the incoming commodore of the ASMBYC, especially smaller affordable boats,  but a blessing from the association wouldn't hurt.
                                                                                Thanks, Tim Doran, Witchcraft #68
