dsi /dev/dsb doesn't contain a valid partion table

I have a NetGear SC101 hard drive enclosure with 2 hard drives (this
product is awful..they use their own homegrown filesystem structure
(San File System...SFS)
I cannot access data on either one of them. Something happened where
they became encrypted or something...after installing new firmware on
the unit.
Also, I tried changing the disks to dynamic, then back again (bad
move).
Anyway, I have tried the following:
Installed ubuntu 9.04 on a desktop
could not mount the drive
get the message -->sudo fdsik -l -->dsi /dev/dsb doesn't contain a
valid partion table
apt-get install nbd-client

tried downloading special software for mount:
mount software -->http://code.google.com/p/sc101-nbd/
sc101-nbd_0.03.tar.gz
sudo su
apt-get install nbd-client
