Hey Y'all,

Wanted to forward this request on to the zero-waste team in case y'all would like to discuss or leave comments on the proposed guidance.

_________________________________________________________________________

The Conservation Policy Committee is soliciting comments from our members regarding proposed guidance on Producer Responsibility.

The proposed guidance builds on the Sierra Club’s 2019 Zero Waste Policy and its reference to holding producers financially responsible for the material recovery of their products and packaging. While producer responsibility can take various forms, this guidance covers best practices surrounding the infrastructure involved in achieving this goal as well as the pitfalls to avoid. Other strategies to hold producers responsible are also listed. Submitted by the Zero Waste Team, the Conservation Policy Committee (CPC) reviewed the guidance at its August 7,  2025 meeting and decided it is ready to post it on our Campfire page to get club input and feedback. Note: This is not a public document, and it should not be shared with anyone who is not a member of Sierra Club.
