Hi Folks,
I wanted to flag an important development on HB 2145 (Rep Greg Scott is the prime sponsor) Pennsylvania’s bill to limit the use of PFAS in common consumer products like cosmetics and items used by children.
The bill might be moving forward in the House Consumer Affairs Committee (Chaired by Rep Burgos), but the chemical industry is now pushing an amendment to change the definition of “PFAS chemical.” This is a big problem. PFAS are a large class of chemicals, and narrowing the definition would create a loophole, allowing companies to swap in slightly different PFAS compounds and continue using them in products.
The amendment would weaken the bill and undermine its public health protections.
What I’m asking you to do-
Please take a minute to contact Rep Burgos and Rep Scott (see attached doc for more info) and ask them to:
Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.
