Thanks to John Butler for this reference.


I didn't know states were doing this - banning organic waste by large waste producers. 9 states have regulations.

Something for us to consider and research for PA.

Businesses are not allowed to put organics (food waste) in their trash dumpsters (destined for landfill).

Massachusetts is not the only state working to eliminate organic (food) waste from trash headed to the landfill.  Curbside Composting service is now available to ALL NYC residents citywide and is picked up every week on your recycling day.  There is a $25 fine for noncompliance but they will not start collecting until 2026 as the goal is not to make money but to eliminate a source of methane from landfills (or high moisture waste going to incinerators).
