Dear Melinda,
📌Join us in Philly for the 2026 Regional Conference next month!
Burnout is real—but you’re not in this alone. Join us for Radical Optimism for a World Beyond Plastics, a regional one-day conference to recharge, connect, and build momentum to end single-use plastics that harm our health, our environment, and environmental justice communities. Together, we’ll renew our commitment, get energized, and explore new ways to engage others in this work—and keep them engaged.
Through interactive workshops, you’ll build organizing skills to strengthen your advocacy, including power mapping, building and energizing your base, engaging local officials, media training, and organizing film screenings. You’ll also hear from President Judith Enck on the big picture—and be inspired by group wins from across the network. There is
no cost to attend the conference.
We’ll center the day around stories from people in our region sharing frontline and fenceline community experiences and the impacts on health, local economies, and future generations — grounding us all in why this work matters so deeply and to so many.
Our opening panel will feature Oriana Holmes-Price, Director of Organizing at the New Jersey Environmental Justice Alliance, and Bigga Dre, a longtime activist with Chester Residents Concerned for Quality Living.
Join us for a day of connection, skill-building, and momentum.

And while you're in Philly, I hope you'll also join us for a free talk at Head House Books on Friday, March 20 at 6:30 PM. Beyond Plastics president, Judith Enck will be discussing our new book, "The Problem with Plastic" with WHYY's Susan Phillips. More details here.
I can't wait to see you at the conference next month. When people lead, leaders follow.
Onward,
Suzette Munley, Beyond Plastics
National Community Engagement Director
