REMINDER: Young Adult Social Activity for February

Hi everyone! This is just a reminder about our Young Adult Group's social event in February!

  Please see the attached flier for information about it: dinner, guided stargazing, and a planetarium show! (see below for descriptions of the planetarium show and stargazing taken off of the Natural History Museum's website)

 

 Thanks to those of you who have already RSVP'd!  I am still waiting to hear from some of you- I sincerely hope that you can make it!  This night will be fun and relaxing, and I think that it will really help us to get to know each other, and grow as a group.  And of course, you are welcome to bring guests too!  :)

Tales of the Maya Skies

Tales of the Maya Skies is a trilingual (English/ Spanish/Mayan) 33 minute digital full-dome show that immerses the audience into the Maya astronomy, art and culture through a custom score and visuals. Produced by Chabot Space & Science Center, Tales of the Maya Skies inspires and educates through its description of the Maya’s accurate astronomical achievements and how astronomy connected them to the Universe. Narrated by Latin Grammy award winner and Oscar nominee Lila Downs.

 

Star Parties

Star Parties On the second Saturday of every month, the Museum offers public observations at the Museum's Palmer Observatory. These Star Parties are hosted by members of the Santa Barbara Astronomical Unit, who provide telescopes and their expert knowledge of the night sky. Star Parties are held in conjunction with Evening Exclusive planetarium shows. * Next Star Parties Saturdays, January 9 and February 13 Sunset to 10:00 PM

Thank you for putting all of this together - it sounds really fun!  Sadly, I will be out of town that weekend, so I won't be able to make it.  Hope it's lots of fun, though!

Fr. Daniel- Thanks for the clarification on my name!  It's funny - people often call me Laura when they first meet me!  It's something that happens at least once a week, seriously.  And yes, I'm sure that having a Laura working in the office doesn't help!  :)

Everyone-  We have a great group for the event this weekend, I'm glad so many people can come and I am excited to get to spend time with everyone!  I will be making the final reservations today so please let me know if you would like to come but haven't RSVP'd yet!  I will send out a reminder email about the event later this week!
