Have you ever wanted to be a shepherd, at least for a night? This is your opportunity!
As you may know, every year there is a creche in front of the Mission. This year the scene will include two miniature donkeys, a goat, and a sheep, all from farms in Santa Ynez.
We need people who will watch the animals and talk with visitors. Guests might wonder, for example, why we have a manger in front of the Mission. Shepherds can explain that it's very appropriate since St. Francis was the first one to create a nativity scene complete with animals. (You can read more at
http://www.catholiceducation.org/articles/religion/re0238.html )
We will have the animals from December 19 to 28 and need shepherds from 6pm to 10pm each night. (Professional security guards take over at 10pm.) Would you like to sign up for an hour or two? Call Laura Ardry in the parish office -- 682-4151 -- or e-mail her at
stb...@yahoo.com.
Thanks for your help!
