Hi Everyone -
It was a really pleasant evening! And now we have a new Polity person on our list - Richard
Cole was Prez of CSA, Statesman Editor, ran for Polity Prez - early 90's - and some of you may have taken Sociology classes with his father Stephen.
We are also about to have a Suffolk County Family Court Judge. Bernie Cheng, Kelly B, late 80's, has been cross
endorsed by the Dems & Reps so he will be a shoo-in.
As always, getting together with alumns who were involved students - Richard was talking about how he loved his time here - gets me psyched so - although I said after how we were
treated last year I would not do another reunion - I have good news, bad news - and reunion news.
Good news. The Alumni Association has rehired the woman who put together the first good reunion we had in
the tent in 2007(?) when we had tables set aside for us. Now if only they would get rid of the woman who yelled at me and said what I was doing for our reunion last year was "illegal" - it would be fantastic news. Mary and her co-conspirator in Advancement (yes, even Advancement has some good people too) came up with ideas for how to work around the bad news.
Bad news. The budget cuts have taken their toll. Wolfstock (sorry I keep calling it Fallfest... old age...) will still happen but the days of the super big tent and lots of hoopla have obviously been scaled back. That huge tent cost a fortune so this time there will be a few small tents and the play area for kids of younger alums. There will be food and beer (the latter compliments of the Park Bench, now owned by alumns) and your $30 donation to get in will help pay for it all.
Reunion news. We're not going to have a major reunion - we said last year we would do those every three
years so people could fly in for the big ones. But for the locals - anywhere from DC to Boston - and the paupers like Babak in Miami - plan on 10/9 - noon. (It usually goes from 11 - 2 when they close down the food to get everyone over to the stadium for the game at 3.)
This time though, everyone coming will have to do a little work. There will only be high cocktail tables scattered in the food and beer tents so we're going to bring our own and have a picnic outside the tents. Then we can all be together and can expand exponentially.
So when you get here - find the tables outside the food or beer tent with big bunches of Passionate Purple Polity balloons. (Or should that be Passionate Polity Purple...)
You will have to bring either a blanket or a folding camp chair. If you are going to the game afterward, the blanket would be easier unless you plan on getting here early enough to get into stadium lot parking.
Those
who are not going to the game (me!) will head over to the Park Bench. After the game everyone can head over there.
And everyone who is coming - I know as of now it's Bill Camarda, Joel Peskoff, and me - email to let everyone know. The more people who are coming, the more other people will want to come. But don't email to say 'maybe'. When you know for sure, then do it.
If you will be staying overnight, remember to check the Wolfstock page regularly to see what code will be used for discounted hotel rates. Please remember that most local hotels sell out that weekend. https://secure.www.alumniconnections.com/olc/pub/STO/events/STO2241920.html
Hope to see a goodly number of you in just over a month! Take care, JoAnne / Mama SCOOP

JoAnne, thanks for letting me know about
this. Unfortunately, I can’t make it. Barbara and I will be on eastern
Long Island a few days after this, but I can’t get
there Wednesday…
I hope to see you this fall. Will there be
some kind of truncated Wolfstock this year, or is it the victim of budget cuts?
Best,
Bill
