Hello Everyone!
Good news! This has been a great week! Info below on Polity/USG in University Archives and Wikipedia, SAB concerts, SCOOP AV, and last but not least - 10/9 Homecoming!
1) I set up a meeting with University Archives and David Mazza, the USG (ie Polity) VP who came to Career Talks last year. Current Council is smart enough to understand the history being lost so will set up a funding mechanism for Polity/USG archives in the University Library!
But don't think that let's you off the hook! It will just be a small drop in the bucket to get things going. Alumni will have to make up the difference! Hopefully Archives will have the donation info ready by the time Wolfstock roles around. And FSA folks, we (wait, why me!?) have to figure out how to incorporate FSA into it because as a seperate corp it isn't falling under Archives mandate and is getting lost too.
2) The USG website has added history that students will want to know - like the old SAB concerts list that used to be on WUSB's site: http://sbusg.org/about/history/concerts/
They are really trying to recreate the old SAB concerts concept with a new SAB Chair / Committee and they're doing events.
3) They have started a Wikipedia listing and are adding history as they come across it but the best ones to add that history are each of you - so do it! They don't even know Hotline existed! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Undergraduate_Student_Government_at_Stony_Brook_University
4) David came across an amazing find, circa early 1980's, in the old AV offices in the Union (the storeroom that used to be behind Cookie Clown and next to the deli) and took me in to see them. Way up in the ceiling rafters - I had to keep climbing up on boxes to get a good shot - and you can see them here: http://aasquared.org/gallery/SABSCOOPAVRoadCases
5) 2010 we decided would not be a big reunion year, just something for those who live close. The website is up, I've already registered - so if you plan on coming register early - big walk-in fee.
When you get to the Homecoming tent - find the big purple ballons outside the main tent and that is where we'll be. We asked for tables and chairs and they are getting them!
Take care,
Ja

My guess: AcFee diverted from 100% > Polity to 70%>Admin, things
like rabbi/priest/minister/imam and Greeks advisor shit.
PROTEST FOR ME WHILE I'M ON BUSINESS, HUH? (actually visiting g'friend,
but....)
Looks great!
They forgot to add we had Gene Roddenbury – the creator and producer of Star Trek at ICON in 1982 sponsored by SAB Speakers when I was Chair. That is certainly a name in street cred they may want to memorialize as having been at SB. They also forgot we had the Allman Brothers in 1981(?) and have a date mixed up for Southside Johnny – should be 1981(?). I am sure there are other erroneous entries and errors in dates and names as well just don’t remember all them J
You go Jo!

Great stuff, Joanne!
Wow, two of those “Road Cases” look like the old Altec A7 “Voice of the Theatre” speaker cabinets (with the Stony Brook Concerts/Scoop AV logo). Many of the old SBC shows in the Auditorium and Gym as well as G-Fests and FallFests (as well as some departmental Graduation ceremonies) used these for reinforcement! Also, do I see peeking from behind them the case from the Soundcraft Series 1 mixing board? You never forget your first big mixing boardJ I wonder if the old mixer could still be in there?!?
Also, that Concerts list needs a bit of work… Jack Cassidy/SVT in the Auditorium, Village People at EOB, Harlem Steel Drum Orchestra at Fallfest to name a few. I’ll have to dig out the old backstage pass collection, I wish I remembered the dates!
Anyone know what became of Betty Pohanka from EOB?
Best regards,
Lee
