| Hi Everyone - Sorry for the short notice for those of you who weren't Poli Sci majors. There's an alumni event this coming Wed, 8/18, that some of you may be interested in even if you weren't Poli Sci. Details below. Although it was great that PHEEIA did not pass, nothing else passed either pending a new compromise in the fall, so the U is in really dire straights. They're giving pink slips and making plans to consolidate departments which means even tenured faculty can be given the boot. So in the meantime, alumni from different majors are doing lots of little things to bring in any kinds of donations. While I would normally say don't give a major donation unless it's to something that matters to you and definitely not to the general fund - this event is not that! Unfortunately because I wasn't a Poli Sci major I just heard about it - but if you're in the hood... Alumnus Ary Rosenbaum is co-hosting a get together in the Wang Center this Wed, 8/18, from 6-8pm. Only $10 plus a cash bar! While it's geared to Poli Sci, it will be lawyer heaven too, and an awful lot of us took lots of Poli Sci classes (I took 3 just with Koppelman) even if we weren't majors. So come have something to eat - we can hang out for awhile - you can see how they have corrupted the beautiful Wang Center with this ugly Brook Alumni Room - we can harass them about their once again horrible Fallfest plans - whatever! Always a good time when old Polity people get together! Send me an email if you're coming - jam...@gmail.com . Take care, JoAnne |
| Unfortunately Wednesday is not a good day for me. I am in a traning class for work every day this week in Manhattan. I don't get home until 7:00 if things go smoothly and with the LIRR you never know. -Jay --- On Mon, 8/16/10, JoAnne/Ja Young ten Doesschate <jm...@yahoo.com> wrote: |

Chris Fairhall is up from DC and will try to get out of whatever Lisa has planned for him if enough of us will go - though given that Lisa is a lawyer and an alumn too, you should get her to come too Chris! And Mace, you are always sending FB messages for nights out so where are you? Supposedly a lot of the faculty will be there too. Chris and I were talking about some of them today. We both had Koppelman. He is who called President Marburger to get me back in the first time I was thrown out when we started NYPIRG. And Frank Meyer is still teaching! I thought he was old when I was a student. --- On Mon, 8/16/10, Jay Schoenfeld <teku...@yahoo.com> wrote: |

JoAnne, thanks for letting me know about this. Unfortunately, I can’t make it. Barbara and I will be on eastern Long Island a few days after this, but I can’t get there Wednesday…
I hope to see you this fall. Will there be some kind of truncated Wolfstock this year, or is it the victim of budget cuts?
Best,
Bill
