Need funding for a project? Know someone who does?

I'm helping the Knight Foundation identify high-potential breakthrough innovations that leverage networks (technology!) to help inform and/or connect communities. Media grant is $250K (Range is $15K > $1M). I always see amazing ideas floating amongst the StartingBloc community, and would love to see your innovative ideas and projects funded.

Here are a few unique aspects to this opportunity: It's open to individuals, for-profit and non-profit ventures and organizations from early stage start up to full fledge companies. Grant can go towards prototyping, product development, bringing to market, etc. Winners receive their check within 90 days.

Here’s how it works:

• Submit an idea for funding that fits the theme of this round- “networks,” meaning ideas that build upon existing software and platforms. www.knightnewschallenge.com (Don't get thrown off by "news" - it's a broad definition of informing and connecting communities)
• Fill out the very simple seven question application on the News Challenge Tumblr.
• Watch and RT @knightfdn and #newschallenge to help spread the word, and be the first to know about additional news and tips about the Challenge
• Deadline for this round’s challenge is March 17. Winners get check within 90 days at MIT Center for Civic Media event.
