I've updated, added to, and rearranged some of the documentation in our publications directory. To help everyone get onto the same 'page', I'll summarize what we have and were it looks like it's going.
1) "document outlines" — the original outline for what we thought we'd like to write about. not under active revision (or use).
2) DELETED "introduction and scope prose" — deleted, but not lost... read on.
3) "FlowCyt Measurement Process" — I have written a few pages on the flow cytometry measurement process... the result of a good discussion with Marc about the big picture of what we're trying to accomplish and what it is capable of accomplishing. I've deliberately framed it as a A) unit-less measurement conversion process, and B) a separate unit calibration step. I think you'll find there are some solid mathematical and metrological justifications for this distinction, though I'm quite certain I've not yet precisely described it. I have included all of what was in the "introduction and scope prose" document at the beginning... I did not see much overlap between the body text of the two documents, and the end-game is a merged document anyway... might as well start now.
4) "Methods for calibrated flow cytometry" — this is the "rubber meets the road" description of how to collect and process flow cytometry data. There's a lot of great stuff in here, but it is largely separate from the higher-level discussion that is presented in the "FlowCyt Measurement Process" document.
5) "Minimum Flow cytometry calibration information" — In it's current state, this is an extremely fragmented and disjointed document. After several rounds of significant edits, we ultimately decided to put a hold on it until we could better frame our objectives. Brian subsequently drafted a more comprehensive outline of what could become version 2.0 ("Proposed scope (outline)"), and which began taking shape as the now incorporated "introduction and scope prose" document. Notwithstanding, I believe large sections of this document will be incorporated into our final product.
TLDR: I believe the two primary documents for development are now A) "FlowCyt Measurement Process" and B) "Methods for calibrated flow cytometry". "Minimum flow cytometry calibration information" will be scavenged to flush out our higher-level argument for what we're doing and how we propose to do it.
Objections? Concerns? Questions? lmk.
