Hi guys,

I trust that you are all doing well, and that you are able to continue to draw on what has been invested into your lives during SBS.

As a class you have shared in the initial stages of the YWAM Botswana journey. Much has happened since and I wanted to give you an update, but also ask if you would be willing to pray about continued involvement in the journey.

I moved to YWAM Rustenburg at the beginning of July, so that I could be closer to Botswana to attend to all the legalities and paper work. My time in Rustenburg has been absolutely wonderful, as I enjoyed the support and friendship of the base here, gotten involved in township ministry, and been learning more about Botswana through lots of travelling back and forth. YWAM Swaziland brought a DTS outreach to Botswana, and through their work new doors have opened up. Vanessa and Gisele, who worked in the World Cup office, also came to visit, and we were able to bless missionaries in more remote places of the country.

The process to get YWAM legal in Botswana has been more challenging, lengthy, and technical than anticipated, which means I have not received my work permit yet and therefore have not been able to move. Our best option was to set up a company which would trade as YWAM Botswana.  Not only has the Lord provided a woman of peace (doing consulting work) who has helped with all the legalities and paper work, He has also provided the money to get the process going. Actually a year ago already.  You guys (SBS 2009 / 2010 in Muizenberg) contributed in offerings taken up at the base, and individual students made additional donations. It meant I was able to do promotional work, and cover the initial cost of setting up a company. At that point we had no idea this is how the journey would unfold. Now I need only a further R30 000  ($4350) to complete the process—which will cover the consulting fees, work and residence permits, and money in the bank as proof of investing in the country. The company papers should be finalised by the end of November, but my work permit can take another 3—4 months.

YWAM Rustenburg has taken up an offering of R3350, and a letter has been sent to all the bases in South Africa (with the consent of our national director), asking them to either match or exceed this amount. Would you be willing to ask the Lord if you should make a contribution, or perhaps pass this letter on to someone who might be interested in investing in missions in this way. No amount is too small, and your investment will be greatly appreciated.

Deposits can be made to the following YWAM Botswana account in South Africa and will be transferred to the account in Botswana as soon as we have the full amount to transfer.

Sincerely

Lynette Oosthuizen
