Hi Everyone, sorry for the last moment announcement, but we won’t have a meeting this month (Oct 8), as some of our key members unexpectedly out of town.
A few updates until next time, we did have an exhibit booth at the recent National Heirloom Expo at the Ventura County Fairgrounds last month, sharing with attendees the benefits of beavers to the environment. We even had a informal beaver puppet stage, hoping to engage kids, but turned out, adults liked it too.
We also just attended the annual Central Coast Bioneers conference in San Luis Obispo sponsored by Ecologistics. We had an exhibit table alongside our beaver compadres, the San Luis Obispo (SLO) Beaver Brigade.
What a great event, please consider attending next year, in addition to great presentations, an opportunity to meet & connect with others in our region doing amazing projects & work.
Exciting news! Ecologistics & the SLO Beaver Brigade are in the initial stages of planning for the Upper Salinas River Center. We attended their launch fundraising event following the CC Bioneers conference. Stay tuned for more information about it, and consider donating! SLO Beaver Brigade offers walks on the upper Salinas where beaver ponds are found and beavers doing their good work rehydrating a dusty dry landscape, visit their website to learn more.
And more exciting news, click below and read about Assembly Bill 2196 to codify the state’s new Beaver Restoration program heading to CA Senate, that Assemblymember Damon Connolly is authoring with the OAEC Water Institute as sponsor. Good work by two tireless beaver advocates, Brock Dolman & Kate Lundquist. https://oaec.org/california-assembly-overwhelmingly-supports-beaver-bill/
