SANTA BARBARA BEAVER BRIGADE Monthly Mtg.
Tues, February 11 at 6:30pm
Location: South Coast Watershed Resource Center, Arroyo Burro County Park (Hendry’s Beach)
2981 Cliff Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93109.
Please join us on Tues, February 11 at 6:30pm for our monthly meeting where we continue to discuss all things beaver.
This week we will show a short video on How Beavers Are Saving Las Vegas. If they can save Las Vegas, they can do anything!
We had some new people join us last month, with good energy & ideas. We will continue to have a “study circle” format for part of the meeting, to learn, study, and strategize for best ways to share benefits of beaver with the public, also our policymakers, whether local, state, or federal. Bring your ideas & snacks always welcome if you’d like to bring something to share.
Also, see below for a special upcoming event with focus a focus on fire in California. Fire of course affects beaver habitat, and beavers and their dams create wetlands that help rehydrate landscapes, making them less likely to burn. It’s all connected…

From the creator of The California Field Atlas and many other books comes a new volume about stewardship, resilience, and hope.
Fire is an essential part of California's ecology. Humans have been using it to shape the California landscape for thousands of years. But today, many Californians' relationship to fire is one of fear. Obi Kaufmann asks: How do we live with fire? And how do we benefit from its teachings?
Mr. Kaufmann will be present for a book-signing, talk, and panel with community members. He will be joined by special guest and Poet Laureate Melinda Palacio.
