From the front lines of the fight to preserve BC's old growth forests, Rematriation is both an urgent wake-up call and an inspiring tribute to land defenders. Aggressive logging destroys more than 10,000 hectares of Canada forests each year. Less than 3% of our virgin forests remains. At Fairy Creek, a coalition of First Nations and environmental activists refuse to stand down. Alex Liotti's passionate, respectful film gives these protesters a platform and amplifies their call to action.

Find courage and healing to help us on our journeys
Come prepared to absorb Indigenous knowledge, reflect, and further develop an Earth-centered mindset. We honor your choice to engage through speaking, listening, or both.
Chumash woman chief and spiritual advisor Ernestine Ygnacio-De Soto – daughter of the last native speaker – and elder Marianne Parra will facilitate the learning circle and welcome Rainbow Eyes to the unceded Chumash lands.
Bring Your Own Chair or blanket: Please bring along a camping chair or thick blanket. We will form a circle in the Indigenous tradition. The tall grasses may be prickly when trampled.
Look for us next to the parking lot: We will meet under the pepper tree next to the parking area.
Bathrooms are not available.

About the CLIMATE COURAGE Series
Join climate and Indigenous Chumash leaders for a transformative series of events featuring Rainbow Eyes — a passionate land defender from the Da'naxda'xw/Awaetlala First Nation — and her partner Glenn Reid. Learn about their inspiring journey to protect the last remaining old growth forests on Vancouver Island at Ada'itsx/Fairy Creek, discover how you can support their efforts to safeguard our planet, and strengthen your own Earth-centered mindset to put our planet on a healing trajectory.
We need all hands on Earth’s deck to alter the direction we are headed in.

A 500-day logging blockade at Ada'itsx/Fairy Creek — the site of the last intact watershed on southern Vancouver Island and home to 2,000-year-old trees and immense biodiversity — is yielding lessons we can all benefit from. With thousands of participants displaying immense courage and resilience, the resistance blossomed into the largest act of civil disobedience in Canadian history.
Indigenous land defenders are creating a path forward to save Mother Earth and we can all become more conscious of our collective power to pivot to a healing path forward.

Get Involved
Support this critical movement by attending events, becoming a sponsor, or by making a donation. Your involvement helps protect old growth forests and supports Indigenous land defenders in changing hearts and minds through the Dzunuk'wa Society, founded by Indigenous land stewards.

Dzunuk'wa Society
From their web site: "The Dzunuk'wa Society was founded in 2022 by three women with Indigenous roots (along with friends and allies) who work to protect the ancient temperate rainforests and their irreplaceable ecosystems. And we won’t stop until they are protected."

The immediate goals of the society are to:
Continue a public conversation about land stewardship, resource extraction, and its effects on forests, biodiversity, wildlife, waters, fish, and soil, through education.
Pressure government to put an end to the logging of old growth forests OR to create a pause in industrial activity, encouraging consensual, constructive, ongoing conversation between industry, the public, activists, and First Nation communities.
Amplify and promote traditional Indigenous knowledge. Balancing holistic Indigenous land stewardship practices with modern technology, and scientific experts in the field of ecology and sustainable resource management.
Create a community network of land guardians for the purpose of preserving ancient ecosystems.
Sponsorship
Sponsorship opportunities are available, with tiers including $10,000 and $2,000 contributions. Individual donations are welcome and encouraged.
