Circular sub-components

Hi, folks:

I've come across an issue in our topological representation that I think is worth discussing and adding a clarification to the specification: how should we interpret the circular/linear topology of a component when it is used as a subcomponent?  

I've written up both the question and my proposed answer in detail at: https://github.com/SynBioDex/SBOL-specification/issues/475

Please take a look at this and provide your thoughts, either on the issue or in this thread.

Editors: please determine if you think this needs an SEP. I believe that my proposed solution does not need an SEP, since it does not change the data model, but will be implemented as a clarification of how the existing data model is interpreted.
