Results of the SBOL Editor Elections

Dear SBOL Community, 

We are delighted to announce the results of the recent SBOL elections. In this election cycle, we decided to elect two new editors to step in for our outgoing editors.

- Gonzalo Vidal - whose term has ended 

- Tom Mitchell - whose term will be ending on August 2nd

We are excited to announce the outcome of our recent SBOL elections. Felipe Buson and Erik Kubaczka emerged as the top candidates, receiving the highest number of votes.  Felipe, having received the most votes, will immediately step in to replace Gonzalo. 

Erik will join the editors team in August, taking over from Tom at the conclusion of his term. This staggered transition has been planned to allow an overlap, ensuring a smooth handover and continued stability.

I also want to take this moment to extend my deepest gratitude to Gonzalo Vidal for his invaluable contributions to the SBOL community during his tenure as an editor. Gonzalo has been an active member in our community, not only in creating innovative tools like LOICA  but also in enhancing the adoption of SBOL through numerous workshops. His strategic insights and creative ideas have significantly shaped our editorial direction.  Please join me in congratulating and thanking Gonzalo for his dedication and impact. I'm excited about his ongoing involvement and look forward to his continued contributions to our community.
