Some interesting feature would be the same controls on the instruments than on the tonality (an arrow to go to the next pattern/setup without opening the Instrument menu - probably not possible because of the logic ?)

Actually, we have something similar in the iPhone application.
It works this way:
You tap on an instrument to select it. It's highlighted in blue.
Then, on the top, there are three buttons:
  1. Next pattern
  2. Previous pattern
  3. Show list (opens the instrument menu)

And muting/unmuting is done by double-tapping.

I actually think that the android interface is simpler and better: You just need to tap an instrument to get to the configuration menu, or long-tap to mute/unmute.

Here is why I think the android one is better:

  1. Only one tap is required to show the instrument menu, unlike 2 actions in the iPhone.
  2. All the interaction with the instrument is done by touching it directly - rather than having buttons on the top bar the control the selected instrument.

It might be possible to add some gestures, such as swipe up/down for changing patterns. But it could collide with scrolling on devices having small screens - I think we can consider this for version 1.1.

What are your thoughts?

Do you agree with me about the android interface being better than the iPhone one? (question for all members here)

I have to think about, but my main idea was the ease of change from one pattern to another, but not only for one instrument (matching the bass and the piano for instance, seem to be easier with a button than with an opening of a menu)

On the Iphone, doe sit mean that you change pattern but you dont know which pattern is played ?

But that is may be only me... expecting to get more of the software because it provide interesting basis.

Best regards, and Best wishes for 2012 anyone !

Hmm, this makes me think of Presets option. Then some presets could come precompiled into the program, and you could add your owns.

So you could predetermine some nice bass/piano combinations, then save them as presets and switch between them. Let's keep that in mind for a future version, as I think this feature is going to be very useful for instructors as well.

Great idea!
it would add coherence, allow ease of combinations.
Best regards

btw, are you much limited for the number of patterns, montunos, tumbaos and the like? Are you getting them from.  mid files?

So, Salsa Rhythm 1.1 for android
is now on the Android store.

This version adds Preset support.
You can save any machine configuration as a preset and load it later instantly.

Would love to get your feedback on the new update.

Cheers,
Uri
