Not that we wouldn't be happy to see you volunteer, but please disregard the plea we sent out yesterday.  We have more than one email list and the request was intended to go to those who had expressed interest in being put to work.

For those of us more interested in fun.....

Second Saturday June 13th will be another party to help pay the rent.  The shop has been really busy recently, often serving over 30 customers a day, but having a monthly fundraiser helps us keep the emphasis on education and community building, where it belongs.

Starting at 6pm, we will have live music by the Poplollys, Alkalai Flats, and Stars and Garters.
We will also have various libations and some sort of art afixed to the walls.

For those of us interested in having fun and being comfortable and being safe.....

If you've already started logging miles in the lovely weather and are feeling less than confident, SBK will also be hosting a two day seminar in June called "Cycling Skills 101".  The bike safety class will be taught by two instructors certified by the League of American Bicyclists.  It will be held on two Saturdays and be composed of both classroom and practice on the road.

The class will be held Saturday June 20th and June 27th from 9am-1pm.

It will cover the following topics
Bike Selection and Fit
Equipment and Accessories
Basic Maintenance and Repairs
Traffic Law/Lane Positioning
Hazard Avoidance Maneuvers
Practice Riding on the Street with Cars (by far, the safest place to be.)

The class is aimed at novice riders, but would be beneficial to all cyclists.  I'm certain because I will be teaching the class. : )

It costs $50, and includes a student manual to take home.
