December's a busy month for everybody, what with the holiday season in full swing, the short days giving you less time to do anything, and that dense tule fog (or eggnog) clouding your vision.  We're not immune to this hectic season, either, and here's what's going on at the Bike Kitchen (and some of the greater bike community) this month:

SBK's holiday hours
Christmas and New Year's this year are not kind to our normal Thursday and Friday shifts.  Our shop will be closed on the following days:
  • Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24
  • Christmas Day, Friday, December 25
  • New Year's Eve, Thursday, December 31
  • New Year's Day, Friday, January 1
Regular hours will resume after New Year's.

In addition to this, we will also be closed on Thursday, December 10.  See below.

Events at SBK
AIDS/LifeCycle Info Meeting
Thursday, December 10
We'll be closing down our normal Thursday hours in order to host an informational meeting for AIDS/LifeCycle.  LifeCycle organizers and SBK LifeCycle team members will be there to show a brief informational DVD, answer questions about the ride and its sponsor/beneficiaries, and even offer a discount on the registration fee for the ride.  This meeting will run from 6:30 to 7:30 and is free to attend, but RSVPs are highly recommended -- click here to learn more and RSVP.

Second Saturday Party
Saturday, December 12

Our December Second Saturday party promises to be full of fun and good cheer. We'll be cramming Be Brave Bold Robot, The Actionists, WELL, Devin Farren, Carly DuHain, and Rachel Lomax onto our stage between 7pm and 10pm, and word on the street is that Brew It Up! will be bringing some of their special make-merry-juice.  We tried really hard, but we just couldn't make this event any more fun!

Other community announcements

Bicycle donations needed
Cycles 4 Hope is an organization after our own heart, providing bicycles to the needy in our community.  This year, they've got a goal of giving away 250 bicycles to underprivileged youths in the Sacramento region and they need all the help they can get.  Like SBK, Cycles 4 Hope is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, so your donation will be tax-deductible.

New Year's Day Ride

The folks behind the highly successful and way-fun Sacramento Tweed Ride are at it again, putting together a "Tweed Lite" ride for New Year's Day, starting at 11:00 at East Portal Park.  Check out the Tweed Ride website for more information.

That's all for now.  As always, keep an eye on our website to see what's new at the Kitchen.
