As usual, there's a lot of big news coming in from the Sacramento Bicycle Kitchen!  We've got our bike swap coming up soon, a special fundraiser for the SBK AIDS/LifeCycle team, SBK jerseys ready for order, some construction plans, and even a little Earth Day love.

Bike Swap
We've teamed up with the Friends of Fremont Park to throw a huge bike swap at Fremont Park on Saturday, April 10.  If you've been looking for some vintage clothing, specialty parts, or a whole bike, this will be the place to go.  If you want to find a loving home for those Campy parts you've been hoarding or that old Raleigh Record you've been meaning to fix up, head over to http://fremontpark.net to sign up for a booth!

April Second Saturday AIDS/LifeCycle fundraiser
Following hot on the heels of the bike swap will be our April Second Saturday party -- this time, we're turning our party over to SBK's AIDS/LifeCycle team.  These SBK volunteers have already raised over $10,000 for the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the L.A. Gay and Lesbian Center, but there's still a lot of funds left to raise before this June, when they'll pedal all the way from San Francisco to Los Angeles.  If you've been to an SBK party before, you won't be disappointed, so come on down and help us help another worthy cause!

SBK Kits and Jerseys
We've been selling t-shirts forever, so we wanted to offer some new, special SBK merch that our heavy-bicycling fans could really use.  So, we've teamed up with Voler to offer SBK jerseys, shorts, and bibs.  Ordering through Voler is rather simple; just go to their ordering website and order whatever you'd like -- club jerseys, sleeveless race jerseys, full bibs -- whatever.  Since we're the throwback sort around here, we've gone with a snappy design: black and light blue, with our logo in white on the back and a classic blue bar across the front with our name.  Head on over to our website to see a picture of the design.

Construction
We love all of the space our new shop gives us, but when we came up with our layout early last year, we had no idea what to do with all of it, and we didn't plan for things like the card catalog.  Since a few of these old ideas just aren't working out, we put together some teams to work on better ways to store wheels and tires, make the clerk station not stick out into the middle of the shop, showcase our nicer parts for sale, and find a better way to store bikes for sale.  Since some of these changes are going to require a bit of construction, we're going to close SBK for one week to give us a chance to build out what we need.  The exact closure dates haven't been decided yet, but as soon as we know, they'll go up on our website.

Earth Day
When the City of Sacramento invited us out to its Earth Day celebration, we couldn't say no.  We'll be wheeling our mobile fixery on down to Cesar Chavez Plaza on Thursday, April 22, to help celebrate active, earth-friendly transportation like bicycles.  If you're in the area and want to rub green elbows, come on down and say hi!
