MISUSE OF AWARDS!!!!

Subject: Padma Vibhushan to Chanda Kochhar

Dear friends,

CEO of ICICI Bank Chanda Kochhar has been awarded Padma Vibhushan,  the second highest civilian award of the country. Only Bharat Ratna is higher than this award.
 
Was just wondering what kind of great service has she rendered to the country to deserve this award?  It is true that ICICI Bank is the second largest bank in the country and, by default, has had a hand in country's development but it is more of a commercial organisation working purely for profits and not for services alone.  It has been in the news more for the wrong reasons, like the collection of credit card dues by goons, the run on its ATMs 2 years back etc. Can ICICI Bank match SBI in terms of the number of rural branches, the SSI and Agricultural advances or the advances under IRDP and other schemes?  What was the highest award given to any SBI Chairman?

I think corporate lobbying and brand promotion plays part in national awards also, which is a shame and sets up a wrong precedence.  I am not against award to her but why such a high award like Padma Vibhushan?

Hi...everybody...yeahhh...a good issue put forward by Arif bhai and good reactions coming from some of us...bt the fact is in India and also across the world all awards are rigged and manipulated to a great extent....tell me one thing...what did Obama do in just 1 yr of his presidency that he was awarded the Nobel Peace prize...leave it....our very own Ratan Tata revolutionized the entire auto industry by giving a "1 lac" car...what did he get in return??? His car factory wasnt even allowed to start its operations in a state where a brainless lady held the entire state admin to a ransom....the Govt in power was a mute spectator....Pathetic.....and now we are talking of giving the Bharat Ratna to Sachin...which is to a certain extent justified....but was Ratan Tata's contribution any less??? So its not a surprise if Chanda Kocchar is awarded the Padma Vibhushan...."Yeh India hai....mujhe fikr yeh nahi ki yeh desh kaise chalega....mujhe yeh fikr hai ki kahin yeh aise hi naa chalta rahe......"
