IT IS FINALLY BIKING WEATHER!!
Lynn has had 2 successful rides in the last 2 weeks, Peg had a Monday morning ride too. This Saturday looks warm but wet (we will watch that) but if anyone would like to lead a Friday ride, the weather
will cooperate.
Our Board of Directors had a meeting last Sunday, watch for more info from Ray!
The sunset will be at 7:30 starting next week, so watch for Lynn’s rides to start at 5:30 making it easy to make it after work!
Our Earthday week trail clean up will be SUNDAY April 19th at 9:30. Starting at the Culver’s on Wise road. This will also serve as our April club meeting so please show up! The more the merrier. Following
the clean-up we meet back at the Culver’s on Wise road for an ice cream treat. We can park at Culver’s - stay towards the back of the parking lot, they don’t open until 10:00. I will bring safety vests, grabbers and bags. We will not be walking on a roadway,
only a sidewalk. Rain or shine! Wear your SBC stuff!
Tony is feverishly working on a trip to Indiana and Southern Michigan. It is only 1.5 hours from here and we will have a hotel/motel option or you can make it a one-dayer. Wayne is going to offer a
Peoria area ride also.
I have been listing our rides in the Facebook Group “Everything Schaumburg”. And in the “Ride Streamwood group. This is working out much better than expected as we are getting new members! 4 new potential
members showed up on Lynn’s first ride and 2 more on her ride Monday. I have more promised to come in the near future. Yes, some visitors will join to be able to ride with us again. Our treasury is lower than some last years and it is primarily because
our membership is lower. So this is an all hands effort so wear your jerseys and spread the word about the great Schaumburg Bicycle Club!
I intend to expand the reach to the neighboring websites asap. I am also checking with Harper to rustle up some support for bikesters at the college level. They have a motorcycle training and group,
why not bicycles too. I think that the Ride Streamwood group is ripe for rounding up members too since they are not really doing rides yet.
What do you think about us putting together a community Bike Safety and beginner presentation in conjunction with the various bike stores you all use?
Miscellaneous - we will be printing up a supply of SBC flyers that we can all carry and distribute. Neil is doing the layout and I will donate the printing at no cost to the club. President Ray is
looking into printing SBC business cards again. We should all have a few for handing out.
That is it for now!!
