Let's try for one more Saturday ride this season. Come prepared for temps
in the low to mid-40s. We'll ride the "triangle" from Kline Creek Farm.
We'll ride the Great Western Trail to Villa Park and the Illinois Prairie
Path for the return leg. The route is mostly limestone. Distance will be
22 miles. The outbound leg is simple and straightforward if you want to
turn around sooner. This is a mostly flat route except for a couple of
railroad overpasses. This is a casual speed ride. No one will be left
behind.

What: Ride Great Western and Prairie Path Trail "Triangle"
Where: Kline Creek Farm (1N600 County Farm Road, West Chicago)
When: Saturday, November 22, 10:00 AM
How: Casual speed, no one left behind (10-12 mph)

Directions to Kline Creek: Take Barrington Road south and it becomes County
Farm Road. Farm/preserve is on the right after you cross Rt 64/North Ave.
About 30 minutes from Schaumburg.

Restrooms are open at Kline Creek. In Villa Park we'll use restrooms at
either the rec center or library.

Please arrive 15 minutes early to prepare.

Reminders: Bikes should be in good condition. Helmets are expected safety
gear. Guests are welcome to join us for one ride but are expected to join
the club for additional rides (insurance requirements). Fountains will
probably be disabled so bring enough water. Carry emergency contact info.

Let me know you are coming so I don't leave without you.

Wayne,

I'm planning to attend and would like to complete the 'triangle' - might start/end at 'Prince Crossing'. I'll join the SBC group before 10 am at Kline Creek Farm.

Best regards,
Mansoor.

I was surprised by the good turnout for the ride yesterday. Given the temperatures I was expecting only a few riders but was surprised that 10 riders showed up to join Karen and me. The ride to Villa Park went well with sun and a little wind behind us. There weren't many others on the Great Western Trail. The new recreation center in Villa Park allowed us to use their very nice restrooms. We did have to sign in. The ride back on the Prairie Path was colder due to a slight headwind and lack of sun behind clouds. There were a lot more people using the Prairie Path (riders and walkers/runners). The French market was running in Wheaton. Larry, Mansoor, Pat H, Patti, Ray M, Donna, Anne & Mike, Keith & Julie, and Karen joined me for 22 miles. Thanks to everyone willing to come for a ride despite the cool temperatures.

I am not expecting any more Saturday rides this season given the weather outlook. (This Saturday may be snowing.) If we get a spell of nice weather I'll try to fit something in.

I was disappointed we didn't see any Sandhill cranes on our rides this fall. But today we enjoyed watching several large flocks of cranes pass overhead while making quite a racket.

Hi Wayne,

Thanks for leading the ride. I went a few more miles beyond the Kline Creek Farm, and it was darn empty all the way - just me and the chilly winds :)

Happy Thanksgiving, SBC members! If you missed this ride, you can take a look at the video and get inspired to join us next season.

Warm regards,
Mansoor.
