Reply-To: <leon....@gmail.com>

The Poughkeepsie Farm Project, in Poughkeepsie NY, seeks apprentices and
interns for 2013!

The Poughkeepsie Farm Project's Farming for the City Program provides
participants with the foundational knowledge to pursue a career in small-scale
vegetable production.  Apprentices and interns work on a 14-acre farm with PFP
staff and members to grow over 200 varieties of vegetables and fruit, operate
a 250-member CSA, teach children and teenagers about food and farming, and
lead outreach efforts to increase food access and awareness of food in the
city of Poughkeepsie.
In 2013 we’re offering:
One 9-month farm apprenticeship
Two 7-month farm apprenticeships
One 13-week farm internship
One 11-week farm internship
Opportunities exist to gain a wide range of knowledge and skills through
weekly workshops, exposure to a variety of activities at the PFP, and
participation in two Collaborative Regional Alliance for Farmer Training
(CRAFT) programs.
Farm apprentices and interns focus on learning skills necessary in managing a
farm (such as tractor work, harvest management and CSA management).
Compensation includes a weekly stipend, vegetables, and training.
We're seeking dependable, good-natured apprentices and interns with active
interests in food and farming as well as working towards a just and
sustainable food system; good communication skills; the ability to take
initiative and a desire to be a part of bringing about positive community
change.
Applications received by February 1st will receive priority consideration and
reviewed on a rolling basis thereafter. For more information and an
application, please contact Leon Vehaba, le...@farmproject.org
