Hey Bible Camp teams!
So today is a rainy day. At East side we passed out lunches on the
porch of our apartment and hung out with the 15-20 kids that came over
and had some fun. We talked a little bit about sin, being like a
milkshake with a cockroach in it. And they said they wouldnt drink the
milkshake! even with just one little cockroach in it! cant believe
it. But thats sin, completely contaminating. And we did a quick recap
of God's love for everyone, and a quick intro to God's love being free
with Jesus for tomorrow.

Sunny days the rest of the week!

Hope to see everyone at Melodi's tonight! Im bringin some brownies,
and we might watch some Tim Hawkins!

He is a funny comedian.

Rollins Court, can we meet on the front porch of our apartment or even Kemp or are we still meeting in the field?

Rollins Court,

We will simply push the lessons back one day, so today we will do day 2, the story about Naaman.  I know that we have different teachers each night, so we will have to work this out.

Kyle / Chris,

Will it work for you guys to teach on Thurs/Friday?

I just had a thought...

Does anyone know of a double-dutch jump rope group in BCS?? Wouldn't it be incredible to have them do a demo during Bible club?

Sara Miller thought of calling the Bryan Boys and Girls Club to see if they have any kids who double dutch jump rope. Did you get anywhere with that, Sara?

I thought the face painting was a hit. How about y'all?

Framework for skit Day 3:

Key Point: Jesus took the punishment for our sins so that we don't have to

The opening scene shows the gang members angrily discussing the fact that Nin has been acting weird lately and wasn't even around when they needed him the night before to go rob that store. (or whatever crime you want to name) They are mad that he is skipping out on them and decide to punish him. "He's gotta PAY!"

Kelsey comes by and overhears them.

She then steps into the situation and says, "I heard what you're planning and I have something to say."

"What could you POSSIBLY have to say to us???"

"I want to take Nin's place."

"WHAT???!!!" They die laughing, because they think she means she wants to take his place in the gang.

"No. That's not what I meant. I want to take his punishment."

"What??"

"You said Nin has to pay for what he did. I want to pay it FOR him."

"Girl, are you CRAZY?? Do you have any idea what we do to people who betray us??"

"Yeah, I think I have some idea."

"Why?? Why would you DO that?"

"Because I love him."

"You love him. Enough to take his punishment???"

"Yes."

"That's whack!"

"No. It's love."

"You wanna take his place? Take his punishment? Cool. Let's go."

The gang members grab Kelsey and take her around the building out of sight.

FREEZE!

Part 2

Nin comes running in to Miss Melodi yelling about what has happened. Miss Melodi tells him to slow down and help her understand why he's so upset. He is upset because the gang took Kelsey and beat her up for something HE did. It's all his fault! Miss Melodi immediately asks if Kelsey is o.k. and Nin says it looks like she'll be o.k., but she's in the hospital. He is torn up with guilt over what has happened.

Miss Melodi takes that opportunity to explain that this is exactly what Jesus did for all of US. He took the punishment that WE deserved because He loves us. The Bible says that we have all sinned and that the punishment for that is death. But Jesus took that punishment by dying on the cross. It's up to us now to say that we believe that and that we want Him in control of our lives.

Nin begins to grasp the reality of the gospel. He says he just can't believe someone would do that for him, when he's done so many bad things.

Miss Melodi says that God loves everyone, no matter what. It is up to us, though, to talk to God about that and let him teach us how to live right.

Nin says he is going to check on Kelsey at the hospital and thank her for what she did for him, but first, he's going to go talk to God and thank HIM for what He's done for ALL of us.

If you're still awake, would you pray that Sam would have a good night's sleep? He keeps waking up this evening, crying. I wonder if he's just overly tired from not having his regular nap. I've gone into his room about 5 times now and really want him to just settle down into a good sleep.

Thanks!

Sara Miller said she would buy long jump ropes for us if we want them, so I
was just thinking, what if we did jump roping as an optional activity, but
make up some Christian jump rope rhymes? I'll give those some thought.

Rollins Court and Everybody...

I am just really excited about today. Praise God for good weather and hearts that were so ready to hear the Gospel. Yesterday, our site had a hard day, with just disobedience and fighting from the kids. Today though, God calmed some hearts. The kids were so good. We had minimal to no distractions during the teaching time and the Lord really used Kyle to very clearly layout the Gospel for these kids. I'm not sure about anyone else, but one of our kids name Matthew came to know the Lord tonight!!!! Praise God! I have just got more excited about this as the night has gone on. Rollins Court leaders, please encourage Matthew tomorrow and praise God with him. He left so thankful and so excited and nervous when I dropped him off tonight! Pray that Matthew will grow to be man after God's heart and in 10 years or so will be the very leader out at Spring Break Bible Camp praising God and playing silly games with some neighborhood kids. Just thought I would share. Thank you all, everyone at everyone at all 3 sites, for working hard this week. Even if it was all for that one boy! I can't stop getting excited,

We heard about this tonight when people came to hang out and we were all so excited!! We also praise God that you were able to walk Matthew through that!! SO COOL!

I am so thankful for this week for many reasons, but just a few:

salvation for Matthew!
hangout time with a lot of you
delicious lasagna cooked for my family by Kelsey
prayer and physical support as Mark has been in Haiti
guys who do dishes
relationships with East Side adults and kids
serving alongside some of my own kids
watching the Lord use our guy leaders so mightily
meeting several new friends of LH, LH Bryan, and NL

Love,

O.K., I went to start Brynn's new car this morning....and it won't start! It sounds like a battery issue, but what do I know?? It just clicks if I turn the key.

She returns tomorrow afternoon sometime and I would hate for her to return to that!!! She has only had the car about 2 weeks!

Can anyone help??

Or just take the battery back wherever it was bought and there may be
a warranty on it. I got mine replaced for free twice at wal mart. Esp
if its new there should be some kind of warantee on it.

Hey, everybody! It's been so fun hanging out with a lot of you this week! We have one more night available before my family all return from their various mission trips. I don't think I'll have a house full of extra people on that night. :)

If you're up for it, head over sometime after 7:30, I'd say, so I can have my little ones in bed first. I live at 3827 Springfield. My phone number is 690-9469.

If you're too exhausted, I totally understand. It's been a good, tiring week!
