Hello Green Teams,

I hope the beginning of Spring and spring quarter are treating you well so far. Following are some updates, information and opportunities:

  • Let's get inspired! The CSO has generously funded our participation in a Northwest Earth Institute (NWEI) course called Sustainable Systems at Work. It is a five-session discussion course for the workplace, designed to further organizational sustainability initiatives, inspire innovation and create alignment between employee actions and organizational objectives. For more details, visit: http://nwei.org/discussion_courses/course-offerings/sustainable-systems-at-work-2
    • We have enough course books for ~12 more people, and plan to have two groups of 8 meet during the lunch hour once a week for 5 weeks.
    • Each week, a different person will volunteer to open the session and another person will facilitate the discussion, with everyone getting the chance to be involved.
    • This should be a very engaging course, and a nice change of pace from your work day! Please email me at green...@pdx.edu and cc Timothy Waugh at twa...@pdx.edu if you are interested in signing up.
  • Mark your calendars! The spring quarterly meeting of green teams is scheduled for Thursday 4/29 from 4-5pm.  This will take place again in the Gold Conference room, MCB 5th floor. This quarter's themes are commuting and food.
  • Take home points and presentation slides from David Allaway's (DEQ) presentation at our last quarterly meeting have been posed on the PSU Portal Green Teams group page. He explained some very interesting (and at times counter-intuitive) points about materials, waste and the effects of products we buy on greenhouse gas emissions. I strongly recommend taking a look if you haven't done so already, there is a bunch of good information there. If you are not a member of our portal group, just log in at my.pdx.edu and search groups for "green teams."
Thanks, all!

Molly
