(( Science Lab 4, USS Za ))
Skyfire: Message from the bridge. Williams wants everyone in a briefing in ten minutes.
DeVeau: A briefing? Now?
Sivu?
Johnson: We're working here, no.
Freymott: ::sighs and glares at Chythar:: I've just started to get a hold on this situation and now Wally Man wants me to go to a briefing? Ridiculous. Can't be done.
Skyfire: Ah'll volunteer tae be the representative from here so you lot can keep workin' on this. :: He glanced to Alora. :: ...and you never liked briefings anyway, if ah remember correctly.
::Well that depended on the briefing, but in that particular case, Alora would have just as well preferred to continue working rather interrupt the momentum.::
Johnson: Brilliant, mon ami.
Freymott: ::she waved a hand lazily:: Great, go away Skiffer. You're not needed here anyway.
::For a moment, Alora froze. From the moment Freymott had entered the room, she’d been rude and disrespectful. That, however, was completely uncalled for. She stared in shocked amazement at the Antosian.::
Alexander: Can you at least pretend to care about common courtesy? You had no right to dismiss him like that. He's a highly respected officer and you should treat him as such. I have half a mind to report you to the Captain.
Sivu?
::Alora opened her mouth, anger bubbling up inside, then closed it. It took a lot to get her riled up, but the woman had been nothing but rude and condescending since she had arrived.::
Johnson: Cher, did you learn no manners?
Freymott: I did, they're just frivolous. ::beat as she looks at a console:: Now, what did you have?
Alexander: ::glares:: ::to DeVeau:: Respectfully, ma'am, I don't feel comfortable working with someone so rude.
DeVeau: Understood. How about over there?
:Alora nodded toward the furthest end of the lab which was the best she could do in such close quarters.::
Johnson: Did I hear you right, cher, in that we may have a donor on board now?
::Alora’s mouth had opened again to reprimand Freymott.::
DeVeau: SInce you stepped foot into this lab, you have been nothing but rude and condescending. I will not tolerate such disregard for fellow officers. Consider yourself on report, and please refrain from making any comments. The only thing I want to hear is whatever information you have related to our situation, lieutenant.
::Alora didn’t give Freymott a chance to answer. Instead, she turned away and moved over to a console. Skyfire had returned briefly, spoken quickly with Alexander, then left again. ::
:: Suddenly, both Alora’s and Alexander’s consoles chirped, alerting them to an incoming message. Actually, there were two. The first was a long letter that was a combination of a complaint and a request for a quarantine. The second was far more succinct.::
//
To: Dassa Alexander
CC: Alora DeVeau
From: Chythar Skyfire
Subject: Hocktin Aboard
We have a problem. Hocktin is aboard and in the briefing room. I’m requesting a general quarantine from my boss. Stay tuned.
//
Suddenly, Johnson was bounding out of the room and Alexander aimed for her and Alora’s mouth finally shut from where it had dropped open upon reading. Oh crud..::
Alexander: Ma'am, this isn't good. We're the only ones capable of brewing this cure and if she gets near him, she'll be infected as well. If she comes back in, we'll be infected. We can't let her back in.
DeVeau: This...isn’t exactly what I expected. I mean, hey, we can get a sample now, but...yeah, you’re right, this isn’t good.
Alexander: I'd recommend she be quarantined in decon. We just can't risk it.
::No. They couldn’t, and Alora wasn’t going to let that room get contaminated.::
DeVeau: Computer, lock the door to Science lab 4, don’t let anyone in or out without my authorization.
::The computer chirped in compliance.::
Alexander: We can have her beam it in and then beam her to decon.
DeVeau: The virus could be on whatever container it’s in, but beaming it in is probably the safest course of action. Yes, we’ll do as you suggested - but beam it behind a force field.
Alexander: And I'd suggest a lockdown of this location so no one can bring the virus here. Once I have the sample, I can get to work on a cure. I'd need to create a special serum for Lt. Rosek, but that shouldn't take any time at all once I isolate the Hocktin white blood cells. Of course, the cure would need to be mixed based on race. I can do it for everyone currently on board. I guess since Dr. Skyfire has been exposed, he might be a good candidate to test it's effectiveness.
::Alora smiled. Alexander must have been nervous considering the fact Alora had just told the computer not to let anyone in or out, but she let it slide. If anything, she was nervous too.::
DeVeau: Poor Chy, he always seems to make the perfect guinea pig. Knowing him, though, he’d probably volunteer before we asked if he knew. All right, go ahead.
Alexander: I'll update Dr. Skyfire.
::Alexander stepped into a corner and began typing out a message on her PADD while Alora rubbed her hands over her face. Time was running out. Alora’s console and PADD dinged multiple times. Alexander and Chy were going back and forth. Eventually, she silenced notifications - she couldn’t let that distract her..::
::Who were they down to? Freymott, as moody and annoying as she was still could contribute quite a bit. Alexander was distracted at that particular moment, but capable. Sivu was there, but she’d pretty much had just been doing what she’d been told. All right. Time to get to it.::
DeVeau: =/\=Alora to Johnson.=/\=
Johnson: =/\=?
DeVeau: =/\=I’m afraid that because that visitor is on board, we’re in danger of all being exposed. I’ve locked down the science lab, no one’s coming in or out, but we still need that sample. Please obtain it, then let me know when you have it. We’ll beam it behind a force field and start working on a cure for this thing.=/\=
Johnson: =/\=?
::Turning to those in the lab, she looked at each one.::
DeVeau: Our time is running out. We’re now down to the wire and need a cure now. As soon as we have it in our possession, we’re going to hit the ground running. Freymott, I need you to monitor communications, let me know what’s happening outside, symptoms reported, that sort of thing. Sivu, I need you to monitor the sample and force field. Make sure it’s got enough power to keep that virus contained. If it gets out, we don’t know how quickly we’ll be affected.
Alexander/Freymott/Sivu?
DeVeau: Death is within seventy-two hours, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be sooner, or that symptoms won’t start right away. Everyone will react differently, I’m sure, but I don’t want to take the chance.
Alexander/Freymott/Sivu?
DeVeau: Alexander, you and I are going to work on this. ::She turned to the other two within the confines of the walls.:: If y’all have anything to add about possibilities, speak up, but don’t forget to keep monitoring.
Alexander/Freymott/Sivu?
DeVeau: =/\=Alora to Johnson...got that sample for me yet?=/\=
Johnson/Any?
