::Without a second thought Haylie bound of of the science lab on her way to find the Hocktin who had beamed aboard. She had barely hit the button for the turbolift when her badge beeped.::

DeVeau: =/\= Alora to Johnson. =/\=

Johnson: =/\= Aye, cher, what can I do for you? =/\=

DeVeau: =/\= I’m afraid that because that visitor is on board, we’re in danger of all being exposed. I’ve locked down the science lab, no one’s coming in or out, but we still need that sample. Please obtain it, then let me know when you have it. We’ll beam it behind a force field and start working on a cure for this thing. =/\=

::That was definitely not what she was expecting. Massive praise for being so brave and brilliant, yes. A remonstration for not being careful, not so much.::

Johnson: =/\= Oh, no, cher. I will stay in Sickbay when I get there, then. =/\=

::With the way boss lady was acting it probably wasn't worth it to mention she still had time to get into an EV suit to protect herself. She was in the same hallways as a potential carrier, and that was probably enough.::

DeVeau: Our time is running out. We’re now down to the wire and need a cure now.  As soon as we have it in our possession, we’re going to hit the ground running. Freymott, I need you to monitor communications, let me know what’s happening outside, symptoms reported, that sort of thing. Sivu, I need you to monitor the sample and force field. Make sure it’s got enough power to keep that virus contained. If it gets out, we don’t know how quickly we’ll be affected.

::Alosia merely ground her teeth at the orders. The nerve of the woman. Assigning her to monitor communications when her massive talents were so useful and needed elsewhere. She nodded to the woman and continued her analysis. Communications were an easy enough subject to monitor when on the computer consoles.::

Sivu: ?

DeVeau: Death is within seventy-two hours, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be sooner, or that symptoms won’t start right away. Everyone will react differently, I’m sure, but I don’t want to take the chance.

Freymott: But each death can give us massive insights into the nature of the infection. ::she chirped, looking at the woman deigning to give her orders:: Though I suppose we should endeavour to solve the problem before anyone dies. ::Dammit.::

Sivu: ?

DeVeau: Alexander, you and I are going to work on this. ::She turned to the other two within the confines of the walls.:: If y’all have anything to add about possibilities, speak up, but don’t forget to keep monitoring.

Alexander: ::nods:: I think I can speed up the process a bit if we use nanites in all the serums. I understand the controversial nature of it, but feel it's our best shot.

::She had nothing to add. Talk was a frivolous function when used only to confirm or deny something. So since that was all she had at the moment she found no reason to speak.::

Sivu: ?

::Haylie had arrived at Sickbay, taken the blood sample and was programming the transporter when her badge beeped. All in all not a very long time. But apparently long enough for boss lady to check in.::

DeVeau: =/\= Alora to Johnson... got that sample for me yet? =/\=

Johnson: =/\= Aye, cher. Beaming it to you now. I hope it solves all your problems. I'll continue to work on the solution from here, if it's all the same to you. I'll forward anything I get to you boss ladies, no. =/\=

::Even if boss lady didn't want her to work on the problem she would. This thing would kill way too many people without all the minds working on it. So, with nothing better to do Haylie went to the nearest console and began analyzing the blood she had just beamed over. It was fascinating in it's own right and, she was sure, would lead to a solution given enough time and research.::

::Alosia studied the samples with a detached perspective. While being able to see who died and how because of this disease would be fascinating she was sure the imperious woman giving orders would not appreciate the loss of life. And the others who disagreed with her methods would probably file a complaint were that to happen. Just another in the file, really. Still, she could sense their urgency. So with a sigh she tried going beyond the obvious data to find clues as to what caused the symptoms of the disease and how to cure it.

::Typing furiously she filed her first of many reports. Hours later she heard one of the doctors proclaim victory over the disease. A shame, in some respects. But a triumph in others. At least she'd have a lot of data to analyze.::
