((Bridge, Dorsal Section))

Pavlova: Second Andorian ship disabled, and we’re all out of torpedoes.  Recommend we beam as many Andorians aboard as possible before they destruct this one as well.

::That left one undamaged Andorian ship out there, but with the Romulan station set to self destruct and the second Andorian ship likely to do the same, Irina’s priorities were on trying to find and keep track of that last cruiser and hopefully keep it far enough away with nothing but phasers while the scientist and engineer rescued as many Romulans and Andorians as possible.  No easy task.::

T'Mihn: Lieutenant Commander Pavlova, drop shields. Now!  Energizing.

Herrera: Response

::Irina did as instructed and dropped the aft ventral shield, which was the only one that the remaining Andorian cruiser couldn’t target with beam weapons.  Of course torpedoes could be programmed to find their way in, so Irina remained focused in the hope that she wouldn’t have to try and shoot one down, which was theoretically possible, but far from easy even for someone with Irina’s natural dexterity and intuition about such things.::

::While Irina tracked and monitored the Andorian ship, Avery and T’Mihn seemed to be having a hard time of things..::

T'Mihn: Hhsss.  :: quiet mutter::  C'Mon,stay still.

Avery: I've re-routed power from non-essential systems to the energizing coils and the sensor array ... hopefully it helps to compensate at least a tiny bit.

::Then it happened.  The Andorians fired a spread of torpedoes, three in all, and clearly on a guided trajectory that would take them to Vigilant’s unshielded aft ventral hull.  She deployed countermeasures which miraculously caught the attention of two of the missiles, but third remained on course.::

Pavlova: Incoming.

Herrera: Response?

::Irina linked all phaser banks and started firing rapidly, where she GUESSED the torpedo would be, but the torpedo continued, closer and closer.::

Herrera/Avery/T’Mihn: Response?

::She was getting close, but the torpedo was coming out of its turn, and when it did it would present a far smaller target.  Irina took a light grip on the manual joystick control and released automatic tracking.::

Herrera/T’Mihn/Avery: Response?

::The explosion was spectacular as the torpedo exploded barely 500 meters from the Vigilant’s unshielded aft ventral hull.  The shock slammed everybody and everything forward and a few panels and support beams decided they would rather splatter themselves all over the floor than remain in place, but Vigilant was whole, sort of.::

Pavlova: Hull breaches aft ventral section, decks 6 and 7.  Aft ventral shield emitters destroyed.  ::she paused:: : That was close.

T'Mihn: Half of of them are aboard, I need another ten seconds.

::Irina didn’t take any time to rest, and didn’t bother resetting weapons to automatic targeting as there was no only a single Andorian ship and for whatever reason, she had come around to Vigilant’s dorsal side, where shields were functional, if slightly weakened.  At fairly long range, Irina and her Andorian counterpart exchanged fire, both slightly weakening the other’s shields, but causing no serious damage.::

T'Mihn: I have them all. Dispatching to medical to cargo bay two.

::On hearing the news Irina immediately raised the remaining aft ventral shield emitters, though their coverage was very thin with after that close proximity detonation.::

Pavlova: Shields at 49% overall, 12% at aft ventral.

:Herrera: Response

T'Mihn: Thank you Ensign Avery.  I could not have done this alone.

Avery: Of course ... I'm glad I was able to assist.

Avery: Reading a massive power shift in the Andorian vessel ... It looks like they're taking every system they have offline ...

Herrera / T'Mihn : Response

Avery: If I had to guess, they're probably going to re-route it to a system that Commander Pavlova disabled.  Possibly warp or ... :: Then it hit her, hard.  Commander Pavlova ... she had already told them exactly what was happening!:: Sir, good chance Commander Pavlova already said it ... they might be re-routing power to utilize some type of self-destruct mechanism!

Pavlova ::Dropping shields again, quickly:: : Get them out of there!

Avery/T’Mihn/Herrera: Response?
