Jonathan Cumar crossed the threshold of the coffee shop and glanced around. In one corner sat their most recent addition to the crew, one Lt. Commander Timothy Alentonis of the science department. Behind the bar sat one of their civilian coffee jockeys, Dr. Chythar Skyfire. He glanced around the room and approached the bar.

Tim had gotten his quarters, made sure his luggage was all present, and had headed off in search of a one of those fabled cups of coffee he’d heard so much about. As he glanced up from his reading of the FNS reports, he saw the doors part to admit one of their gold-collared lieutenants.

Cumar: So, where is everyone?

Skyfire: I saw a message about some sort of shindig going on in the holodeck. Some kind of a send-off party?

From the quiet corner, Dr. A spoke up.

Alentonis: Yeah, apparently the ACMO and chief engineer are being transferred to the Embassy. I was planning on going, after I replicate something appropriate to wear.

Cumar: Oh. Well, guess we should put in an appearance. Wouldn’t you agree, Chythar?

Skyfire: I suppose. :: He paused. :: What’s the dress code, commander?

Alentonis: 2260s.

Skyfire raised his brow and glanced to Cumar, whose brow also furrowed slightly in confusion. After a moment, CD returned his attention to the science officer.

Skyfire: It’d be bad form for me to let our chief barista venture off without assuring him that the Continuum will be in good hands. Guess I’m going.

Cumar: O...key…? Not sure why, but you guys have me curious.

Alentonis: Great! Let’s go get changed. Come on, I’ll help you find a color to wear for it.

((Constitution Class Bridge Simulation))

The trio made their way to the holodeck, CD and Tim clad in blue, and Jon in red. As the rest of the crew filtered in, the skipper wearing the gold minidress captain’s uniform of the late 2260s. For Tim, it was an amazing throwback and he actually used a bit of touch-up hairspray to reduce the greying temples using a lighter brown instead, which would wash out with his next sonic shower. The captain took a step forward and reached out to touch the red-orange handrail that circled the command pit.

Rahman: This bridge officer certification exam program was designed to test candidates’ strengths and weaknesses while performing as members of a bridge crew.

The Kriosian gave a knowing nod at Wil Ukinix, wearing what looked to be the same blue shirt from the last time they’d been on this bridge together.

Rahman: Tonight, though, it has been extensively modified by a starship engineer-turned-captain to celebrate the bonds forged between us as we celebrate and bid farewell to two of our own.

She looked over to see a “yeoman” who held a tray with refreshments and took a glass, holding it up.

Rahman: Lieutenant Commander Geoffrey Teller, Dr. Addison MacKenzie: I’m sure I speak for all of us when I say we’re both excited for the opportunities you two have ahead and sad to see you go. But tonight, there will be no tears or regrets. Tonight, we celebrate you!

She held out her glass, gesturing for others to join in.

Rahman: Cheers!

Ukinix: Sláinte.

Teller:  Sláinte Agatsa, my friends.  Good health to you all.

Cumar: :: raising his glass :: To the commanders!

Tim and Chythar raised their glasses as well, with a knowing smile toward both of them.

Any: Response

She downed her glass and smiled.

Rahman: All right, let’s get the party started!

Roshanara walked down the steps and hit the red alert button on the Captain’s Chair, and upbeat music began to stream through the ship’s intercom as multi-colored lights began flashing around the bridge.

A few officers who CD nor Tim recognized made their way over to the departing officers and seemed to share a moment. Ukinix was grinning like an idiot before making his way back to his PADD on the engineering console.  He finished the remaining contents of his beer, before walking over to the red rail. And then stood up on it. A few more taps, and the Constitution Class’ monotone sounds computer began to speak.

Computer: Confirmed.  Initiating self-destruct sequence.

Suddenly, many faces seemed to look his way.  With a cheeky smile, he winked back, and raised a finger.

Ukinix: ::Smiling:: Wait for it!

Cumar: You going to crash this party, mate?

Any: Response

Computer: 3… 2… 1…

Wil’s “confetti boom” program that he had brought with him from the academy worked perfectly.  There was a “pop” sound in the ceiling in front of the view screen, accompanied with a small puff of dust.  Sparkling confetti of different colours dropped from the ceiling, and slowly but dazzingly fell to the floor.

Wil placed his PADD under his arm and proudly pumped his fists in the air, as he, and everyone else, was showered in confetti.  He jumped down from the rail, next to the helm console.

Ukinix: YEAH BABY!

Any: Response

Teller:  So you kept that program after all, eh?  ::Geoff found a new drink for himself and for Wil, and clinked them together.::  Love it.  Although I hope that's holographic confetti or you're going to be finding it in corners of the ship for the rest of time.

Ukinix:  Response

As the music kicked up, in that moment Chythar was super-grateful that the EARS units were capable of reducing the volume for him. He recognized the up-beat music, but said nothing. He made his way over to Geoff & Addison, offering his hand for them to shake if he wished.

Skyfire: Best of luck to ye both, :: to Teller. :: Don’t worry, mate. I’ll bring some of the raktajino charm with me when I tend the BC. :: then, to Addison. :: You’ll do great as CMO.

Teller / MacKenzie: Response

Skyfire: The only advice ah got for you is this: rise t’ the challenge.

Teller / MacKenzie: Response

Tim and Jon remained side by side, exchanging the occasional glance at one another as they continued enjoying their drinks and watching the room.

Cumar: oO Wall flowers of the Federation unite… Oo

Alentonis: Starfleet parties as an officer...new experience for me.

Cumar: You’ll get used to it.

Alentonis: Noted. Now for my next trick, learning how to interact with the crew.

They both remained quiet against the wall for some time until another officer joined them. Jon just wasn’t a fan of parties in general, but managed to convince himself to be here because he was curious. Tim was still new in this regard, almost like a new kid on the block type new-ness.

Rouiancet: Response

Alentonis: Lt. Commander Tim Alentonis, science department. You were with the delegation on Ketar V, I believe?
