Rahman: I can understand the sentiment. All right, would you like me to inform her you're aboard?

Resachi nodded, as she sat down

Rahman: All right. Consider yourself a guest. Will you be needing accommodations?

Resachi: Probably, yes.

The captain nodded again before interlocking her fingers.

Rahman: So then... back to Karakka. What exactly do you know?

Resachi: I think they've hired some forces from the New Alliance private military companies and are building up a self defence force of their own. The thing is, partially due to the Lenik incident, they're being a bit paranoid about even freighters. I think they're basically assuming the Klingon Defense Force can't properly dedicate resources to Karakka anymore. Cygnetian Defence Force intel suggests they might feel only partially protected by Coalition forces, and the limited number of ships that Starfleet has for this region.

Rahman: The Klingon Empire's... challenges in the region aren't exactly a secret.

Resachi nodded. They were actually part of the reason CDF paid a lot of attention to this region, more so than you'd expect given Cygnet's position near the Shoals. Well, that, and the Cygnet system actually had more connections with the Empire than most Federation members, given the major monastery located in their system. And given the material wealth the Shoals produced, and the possibility of it becoming a pirate haven..

Well, Cygnet was happy to produce aid to Starfleet when requested. And the Federation. And they often also provided targeted aid to various Shoals colonies - usually grants, or material aid. They did this for multiple reasons, including the simple one: They understood the idea of helping others in need, one of the tenets of the Federation. It was fairly common - Vulcan sponsoured some of the new colonies, and provided aid seperatly than through the Federation, for example.

Resachi: Agreed. It's why the CDF has actually been moving to provide technical and limited material assistance to the remaining Klingon colonies- you've likely seen the memo pass you, since we got Starfleet sign off. We're hoping they opt to either form their own coalition, join the CC, or become their own faction, but we are very much worried about the extent of the Orion Syndicate and Cobalt Clan with the decline of the Klingon House managing the sector. Also, we're beginning to get nervous about how much the Holt New Aliance is managing cargo protection in this region of Federation space. But, so far, Governor T'pok is managing to keep a lid on this boiling bath. But you cannot still the waves forever.

Many cultures, not just Earth, had worries about the rise of stellar megacorps in the modern Federation era, especailly with the rise of them managing their own private navies. It was one of the unfortunate drivers of SDFs appearing outside the Federation core. Resachi kept her tone calm, but the blonde Cygnian was one of the worriers, as well.

Rahman: Response

Resachi: That said, with my reassignment from of the Thunder of Nations, I'll be reassigned sometime in the next 12 months out of this sector, so I'm not getting read into any of the new ongoing projects. I think, honestly, the CDF shouldn't have taken so many projects on out of sector, but I'm not privy to the details of our agreements about that.

Rahman: Response
