Parker: I’m not going to Amity. I’m headed to Earth…gonna take some time off then work on the Miranda project for awhile.

Wong: You’re…. You’re  not coming with us?

Parker:: shaking his head:: No. I’ve got some other ptions, and Starfleet has granted me the opportunity to use them. Doing so also means I’ll be able to spend time with my son, which is a good thing.

Wong: Commander, the Miranda project sounds like an amazing opportunity! I can see why you jumped at it. But that means that at some point, we’re going to have to say goodbye. Is this what this is?

Parker: Pretty close. I’m almost sure there will be a final crew muster, but I wanted to tell you personally.

Ikaia stopped to take a drink, and Hannibal did the same…

Wong: I can honestly say it’s been an honour serving with you as both your health care provider and an officer. You have certainly left an impression on me that is absolutely unforgettable. Thank you for that.

Parker: No…thank you Ikaia. You have earned my respect, despite your profession. You have done well on board the Veritas.

Wong: The desks in my office! That was you, wasn’t it? You replaced the AI desk! Ah… I swear that AI desk was going to be the death of me! But I am glad to see the two rather nice desks in my office now. Although, I’m not sure why I have two desks. But I’m going to have to bring them with me to Amity! Thank you!

Parker: It was the least I could do, since I destroyed its predecessor…

Ikaia definitely recalled what happened to his last desk. Parker’s fury at Ikaia’s use of Starfleet regulation absolutely destroyed his desk. He had never seen the commander that angry before. Truthfully, it terrified him.

Wong: Hmm well, you did seem quite stressed at that moment. I know I did touch a nerve.

Parker: As I have told you, I have never liked doctors much…too much poking and prodding when I was younger. Never liked it. I despised it, being treated like a damn freak at worst, a medical curiosity at least.. As you can imagine, that was not pleasant…

Ikaia thought back to what S’Ten told him back in the mine. Parker wasn’t an augment. That much Ikaia was sure of. But himself was another story. He wasn’t sure if he had a part of the augment virus as part of his DNA. Part of him was almost afraid to look into it.

Wong: Well, I have certainly tried to keep the prodding to a minimum as best as I could. I saw that it made you uncomfortable. Given what you have been through, your reactions are understandable.

Ikaia paused to take another drink. His beer certainly had a kick to it.

Parker: You know why I respect you? Because you put your foot down and didn’t give in, despite the fact that you had a feeling that I was going to destroy your Sick Bay and putting your staff in the hospital. You risked all that, looked me in the eye, and did not yield. THAT earned my respect…and my friendship.

Ikaia blinked. He was a little surprised by that. All this time, he had thought that the commander had taken a dislike to him. But this was definitely a shock to him.

Wong: Commander, I….. Thank you. I mean at the time, I just couldn’t back down. I had loyalty to both you and the ship. To back down would be the most disloyal thing I could do and I just couldn’t stand for that.

Parker: One more thing, Sawbones…

oOSawbones?Oo

Wong: Yes?

Parker: You are going to be one hell of a CMO one day, once you get everything all done. I know you will. You have the drive, the determination…and I have no doubt you will be successful. If you fail,::smiling:: I will be…displeased…

Wong: Thank you. I promise you that I will not fail. I wholeheartedly intend to serve those under my care with my utmost loyalty.

Parker: Response.

Wong: I have a certain philosophy about the crew under my care. To me, they are part of my ohana. My Starfleet family. Everyone becomes a part of it and even if I don’t see them for a while, they should always know they are still part of my ohana. Nobody gets left behind and nobody gets forgotten.

Parker: Response.

Wong: This includes you, Commander.

Parker: Response.

The night continued on. But there was something off about it. Ikaia had trouble connecting the dots as to what. His brain was starting to grow foggy. His thoughts felt like he was grasping at water. His stein was entirely empty at this point.

Wong: Something’s….. Something’s wrong…. ::Hic!:: Why do I…. I feel like this…..?

Parker: Response.

Wong: I just…. I just had one…. Ha…. My head feels like soup….

Parker: Response
