Lieutenant Commander Daneil Tristam Core was a perfectly good components engineer, thank you very much. He had accomplished great things. Great. Things. He had uncovered the dangers of malfunctioning quantum slipstream drives. He had repaired decrepit stations wrought with damage from the Vaadwaur conflicts. He had escaped a mud dome minefield using a children's nursery rhyme. He had braved a ship full of holographic serial killers. He helmed the MST project (and theoretically is the saviour of all timelines). He had acted as a babysitter to a minor Borg nanoprobe infection. And worst of all, he had combatted nearly a month in total isolation with one Ki Shandres and an annoyingly logical Vulcan.

Tristam Core was an accomplished engineer with a masters degree. His current projects included subspace teleportation and the 3GN -- though the latter was why, today, he was underneath the large, jury-rigged subspace array currently acting as a testbed, growling at a non-functioning communications grid that was actually meant to have been completed many months ago with a hyperspanner lodged between this teeth while the ship's senior engineers watched over, either with amusement or great concern.

He couldn't tell anymore. He was too busy being annoyed at his own handiwork.

Core: Wrun et agen!

Ukinix/Vanlith: Response?

The Rodulan spat the hyperspanner from his mouth. The start-up sequence had been hampered, multiple times, for reasons he... well... it worked on the PADD so there was no reason it shouldn't be working here.

Core: Just do it again!

Ukinix/Vanlith: Response?

Tristam snarled at the innards of the array, sliding out from underneath it to butt himself between the two engineers.

Core: You checked the start-up?

Vanlith: Response?

Core: And did the yellow indicator come on?

Ukinix: Response?

Tristam bit his bottom lip, frown pulling down his brow. He had but one option left.

Core: Kick it.

Ukinix/Vanlith: Response?

His voice was hurried, and frankly over-dramatic given the situation at hand. He gestured wildly to himself.

Core: I'm Rodulan! Non-violent! When I turned five I swore pacifism even in the event of extreme frustration under the guidance of Artistry-- just kick the damn thing already!

Ukinix/Vanlith: Response?

With a smack of kinetic readjustment, the visual display for what was referred to as the Shoals 3G network slipped into a positive green indicator.

It was working. It was actually working. The communications network was successfully slicing through the tetryon emissions more efficiently than they had before.

Tristam's hands flung up high into the air.

Core: It finally works!

Ukinix/Vanlith: Response?
