( Veritas – Petras quarters )
Kelrod went to check on Jayla as it was due for some time since they ended the Antor mission to spend some time together and talk, a good talk, the kind that sets up a position for the two of them, a more specific position on their relationship, so he went in to surprise her by bringing what he considers a nice pendant and by asking her to go somewhere else to make her a suggestion.
As he got to the door, he pressed the chime and waited for a few seconds until the door opened
When she appeared, he looked at her, admiring her face, and then looked quickly down and back up. She was dressed casually, her dark hair loose down her back.
Kelrod: Busy?
Petras: ::wearing one of her golden kaftans.:: Not particularly. I was considering meditation.
Kelrod: Care for a walk?
Petras: ::nods slowly:: All right. Let me put on some shoes.
He waited for her to be ready and both of them walked around.
Kelrod: How are you?
Petras: I am well… ::looks at him curiously::
Kelrod: Sorry for not calling sooner, after the rescue of the miners, the reports, checking on everyone and everything and preparing for the Governor's event, it's been a hell of a week.
Petras: Of course. I know how it is, Kel.
Kelrod: Maybe,... but I should have made up the time for a call... I'm sorry for that.
Petras: ::shakes her head:: You don’t have to apologize. I’ve been busy as well. That's the job.
Kelrod: You know, you deserve something in return and I feel we both need it. Would you like a full day for the two of us? No duty, just the two of us?
That got him a look of surprise. For all she felt about him, they didn’t really spend that much time together.
Petras: All right.
Kelrod: Leave it to me. Just one question... Mountain or beach?
Petras: ::thoughtful:: Beach.
( Deck 5 two days later )
He'd checked out with the rest of the security department to be able to leave them for at least 24 hours to handle any routine or small emergency that could arise.
Kelrod: If we aren't being shot or boarded with hostile intentions, I'm off duty during that time, okay?
They nodded and smiled, so he decided to smile too, which seemed to stop their amusement for the moment.
Kelrod was walking with a bag hanging on his shoulder, wearing a casual outfit of a white T-shirt and a green and yellow bermuda shorts, combined with a pair of sandals. As he was walking through the corridor some of the enlisted and junior officers he crossed with, seemed to stare at him covertly, probably not used to seeing him that way. As he was arriving at the holodeck, he checked the reservation, made a quick level 4 diagnostic, loaded the program he'd worked on and waited for Jayla to arrive.
Jayla walked down the hall. She was wearing a white one piece bathing suit with a floral wrap around her hips and white sandals. Her dark hair was drawn up into a pony tail that brushed the back of her shoulders as she walked. She also carried a bag with a change of clothes in it. She smiled when she saw him.
Petras: Fancy seeing you here.
Kelrod: Not that much, I was expecting your arrival. :: his smile broaden while looking at her attire. She seemed ready for a nice day at the beach.::
Petras: ::tilting her head to the side:: You look oddly relaxed. ::smiled:: We shall see how this works. Twenty four hours with me and you’ll run screaming for the hills.
Kelrod: Only to bring you the most lovely flowers I can find and a sweet fruit to enjoy. Besides, I’m used to risky situations, kind of feel… exhilarated by them, so, if you’re as exciting as you implied, I look forward to it.
Petras: ::laughs:: You are looking forward to being bored. You really are a strange man.
Kelrod: Maybe,... you’ll have time to find out. Shall we?
He said, gesturing to the holodeck doors that had the program already loaded.
As they enter, they’re greeted with a sandy beach, bathed by turquoise waters. A line of trees about thirty meters from the shore led to a small hill, full of vegetation and different trees with various fruits. The wind was blowing slowly, at about five kilometers per hour and there were a few clouds in the sky, not enough to cloud the sunny day, but to provide aesthetic features to the sky and give occasional shadow every now and then. The hut was between the shore and the tree line. As they entered and the doors were closed he stood besides her admiring the scenery.
Kelrod: Well, what do you think?
Petras: ::looking around with interest, her eyes sparkling:: Oh Kel, this is really lovely.
Kelrod: Given that I’m not usually programming nice places, but training scenarios, I believe I did pretty well.
Petras: ::smiling at him:: You certainly did.
Kelrod: =/\= Computer, lock access to the holodeck and require permission to access from either me or Lieutenant Petras. =/\=
Computer: =/\= Acknowledge =/\=
Kelrod: =/\= Check that the safeties are on and establish a lock on them so they can’t be changed without a level nine authorization =/\=
Computer =/\= Acknowledge, safeties are on and the lock has been established. =/\=
Petras: ::smiling:: I almost feel like I’m being kidnapped and held hostage.
Kelrod: You might want to choose a safe word if you’re worried about being alone with me, but I’m confident you won’t need it. I just don’t want to be interrupted without knowing about the interruption.
Petras: So… what happens now?
Kelrod: Now, we just need to leave our things in the hut, … :: he gently removed the wrap from her hips :: and have a great time! Aside from relaxing, we can do other things. Have you ever scuba-dived?
Petras: ::smirks:: I’ve done a lot of things, love. But yes, I know how to scuba dive.
Kelrod: Just a thought, maybe we’ll just give it a shot.
Petras: ::dropping her bag on the sand:: But let's just start with a nice swim, hmm?
Kelrod: I’ll be just behind you!
Jayla headed towards the water and then dived into the waves. The water felt glorious against her skin. She looked back towards Kelrod. She had fallen hard for him, but most of the time, she didn’t quite know where she stood with him. Kelrod watched her go into the water and waited ‘till she emerged to dive himself into the water. The fresh water sent a shiver through his body, but it quickly passed as he began to swim to get near her.
Kelrod: I hope it’s to your liking.
Petras: The water is wonderful!
Kelrod: It’s certainly stimulating. We can swim for a while and even look at what's below us. I believe I’ve selected a few interesting species to wander around, none of them dangerous.
Petras: ::treading water:: So no major plans?
Kelrod: As I told you, this is a relaxing time for both, you’re off duty, I’m off duty. We’ll indulge ourselves for all those months we haven’t had a proper chance to do so.
Petras: :: her dark eyes were thoughtful:: That is true.
Both swam under the sunny sky, with the light breeze of the sea greeting them every time they got their heads and arms out of the water.
After a few minutes, they got out and got into a big towel set on the sand to dry themselves and Kelrod called for a blue hawaiian cocktail, matching the color of the water.
Kelrod: Anything you like?
Petras: ::she took a sip. It was sweet with a hint of bitter that was refreshing:: This is very good, Kel.
After taking another sip of his drink and taking a deep breath, he looked at Jayla, bathed by the sun and came to the realization of what has to come next. He needs to get that out of him, for the benefit of both of them. He needs to say it and she needs to know where they are and where they’ll be.
Kelrod: Jayla,... we need to… have a talk.
