((Counsellor’s Office, Deck 6, USS Veritas))
Ukinix: I should be. I’m one quarter Betazoid, I’m annoyingly E4 empath, and yet - ::pursed lips, shrug:: - sometimes, I guess I “mishear” emotions when they’re directed at me.
Navarro: ::nods:: I suppose that is possible. It is somewhat subtle.
Ukinix: What sort of things should I look for?
Navarro: I don’t think ‘look for’ is the right term. You should be able to feel when someone is attracted to you.
Ukinix: You see? This is why I’m an engineer.
Callie looked at him… and kept looking at him…and he wasn’t sure what to make of it.
Nor could he work out what to do about the emotion he was sensing.
He felt like it was something along the lines of infatuation, but not quite.
So what was it?
Getting involved with a Starfleet Officer was low in his priority list for the time being – possibly for a long time, if not forever.
Regardless, he smiled awkwardly while his eyes shifted around the room.
His face felt hot enough to have powered the warp coils.
Ukinix: I, uh - ::clears throat::
Wil shifted uncomfortably on the pillow he was sitting on before he decided to abruptly change the topic.
Ukinix: Is it too late to get a margarita?
Navarro: Not if you’re buying.
Without hesitation Wil made his way over to the replicator.
Ukinix: ::To replicator:: Margaritas.
Two of them. I’ll accept ::scratching back of neck:: whatever defaults are programmed, I’ll take it.
Navarro: So… you are a little shy in that area as well.
He looked over his shoulder at Callie as lines of energy rapidly criss-crossed inside of the replicator, producing two salt-rimmed cocktail glasses full of a green liquid.
Ukinix: Yeah.
He turned back to the replicator, grabbed the glasses, and walked back over to Callie, handing her a glass as she spoke.
Navarro: Again, not a bad thing. ::smiles at him:: I’m not advocating that you change your personality, Wil. I think you really are just fine as you are. ::smirk:: You’re a talented engineer. You wouldn’t be Chief if you weren’t. Your team respects you,
obviously since you regularly pull off miracles. You’re very caring about the people around you. ::pause:: And of course you are easy on the eyes.
Not expecting the last sentence, Wil spat out his mouthful of Margarita back into his glass.
Ukinix: ::Cough:: I think ::Cough, strained voice:: some went up my nose ::cough::
Navarro: So that is something we can work on, to help you recognize those types of emotions directed toward you, all right?
He took a big mouthful of his margarita, before coughing a bit more, and punching a fist against his chest.
Ukinix: ::Choked voice, watering eyes:: Okay.
He wiped his eyes, and took another small mouthful, before continuing.
Ukinix: What should I do between now and my next session?
Navarro: Response
Ukinix: ::Nodding:: Alright. ::Smiling, slight blush::
Thank you, counsellor. ::Holding up glass:: Cheers.
Navarro: Response
Ukinix: ::Another mouthful:: Mmm. That’s bloody good.
::Looking at empty glass:: Want another one?
Navarro: Response
