((Clearing, Kidman I))

Rahman: So what did you end up deciding for our meals?

Core: Uh... yes.

Rahman: You packed all of that? Don't tell me you brought a portable replicator because that would be cheating.

Core: Let's agree to disagree on that one.

The Kriosian only rolled her eyes as she flicked her cadet picnic blanket out across the ground. She sat and accepted the containers Tristam handed to her from his backpack.

Core: Myiron fudge?

Utterly clueless to what that actually meant, Roshanara merely smiled back at him.

Rahman: I'm sure it'll be great.

Core: Like most things from Myiron tend to be.

Though it was a rather subjective statement. Tristam's home city of Myiron was small by Earth standards -- most populated Rodulan cities populated in the hundreds of thousands were townships in comparison to the millions a single Earth city could host -- but Myrion's setting was burned into Tristam, despite a long time serving away from home.

There were few regular dishes Tristam was able to eat when away from Rodul due to his Rodulan tongue: his tastebuds were too sensitive, a minor spice capable of burning his tongue's top layer for hours. Too busy (or lazy) to program into Starfleet replicators adjustments to regular meals to accommodate for his tastes, he instead chose to eat an assortment of pastes for about seven years.

Roshanara put a stop to the practice when she'd realised. Part of him missed the simplicity of paste.

Ervami stared over at Veritas, peaking above the landline in the distance.

Rahman: So I heard you've been doing a little more mad science while I was away.

He covered his mouth mid-chew, swallowing before he was able to answer.

Core: You mean the communications array? Yes. First call with Star Station Esperance utilised the tetryonic bouncer here on Kidman -- it wasn't exactly a hundred thousand DPI, but I could at least make out the receiver's hair colour.

Roshanara turned back towards him and tilted her head slightly.

Rahman: So when do I get to see it?

Core: ...the Esperance comm officer's hair colour?

Rahman: Response?

He smirked.

Core: You should clarify what you mean.

Rahman: Response?

Core: Well, it's no warp fifteen engine, but it's solid technology. We can fire it up later today if you like -- I imagine Washington might appreciate the sitrep.

Rahman: Response?

The Rodulan lightly bumped his shoulder into hers.

Core: I appreciate that. It's still not finished, though. I've got the small matter of Karakka to sort out.

Rahman: Response?
