Wil was entering his quarters to have a short break, when his combadge chirped.

Phan'ta'Go: =/\= This is C'lem Phan'ta'Go. =/\=

 

Ukinix: =/\= Yes. =/\=

 

Phan'ta'Go: =/\= From Engineering. =/\=

 

Ukinix: =/\= Yes, I know who you are. =/\=

 

There was a moment of silence.

 

Phan'ta'Go: =/\= Can you hear me? =/\=

 

Ukinix: =/\= YES, I CAN HEAR YOU C’LEM PHAN’TA’GO. =/\=

 

Wil placed his hand on his forehead and closed his eyes in exasperation.

 

Phan'ta'Go: =/\= You’ve received a personal message.  Want me to read it to you? =/\=

 

Ukinix: =/\= Well, no, C’lem, because it’s personal. =/\=

 

Again, there were a few more moments of silence.::

 

Phan'ta'Go: =/\= I’m not going to tell anyone. =/\=

 

Ukinix: =/\= Just – (exasperated) bloody send it through to my quarters, I’ll read it there. =/\=

 

Phan'ta'Go: =/\= Well there’s no need to be like that about it- =/\=

 

Wil tapped his combadge to end the conversation.

                                      

Ukinix: =/\= Ukinix out. =/\= (Under his breath) Weird.

 

He moved towards the nearby console that was positioned on the round table in the lounge area, took a seat, and tapped on the awaiting message…

 

 

Dear Wil,

 

I hope this message finds you well.  I have good news! I am now officially Keehani Ukinix, thank the Four.  The RAoB (Registration Administration of Betazed) have constantly had my change of name request under review – I suspect under pressure from some of the Houses.  With help from some fellow Guardians, they have finally relented.  Grandmother has chosen to keep her name as “Ral”, in memory of my grandfather.

 

If you haven’t heard, I have spoken with Astrad and your mother Stacey via hololink.  Astrad informed me that your grandmother has agreed to help Grandmother and me.  They also informed me how you visited them immediately after your trip to Betazed to discuss our plight. Wil, I am grateful to you.

 

I heard about your encounter with the Maquis Reborn through the FNS, and I am thankful you are safe.  Please wish Dr MacKenzie, Mr Monroe and Mr Xerix eternal safe transit on my behalf.

 

I have a request of you.  Now that your grandmother has agreed to help us with our attempt to regain control of the Ninth House for grandmother, I ask you, as family, to appear in person as a character witness before an Adjudicator at a Betazoid reconciliation forum.  Starfleet officers are highly regarded at forums, especially when they are related to nobility, and your presence would help our representation considerably.  I have also asked the same of your mother, who has, at least in principle, agreed to do the same.

 

I look forward to your reply, second cousin, and to seeing you again.

Taking in the message, Wil performed a closed mouth grimace as he sat back in the chair.

 

Ukinix: Hmmm…..
