Rahman: And how are you today?

Lafizatar: I apologize - I was off in the stars for a moment. Could you repeat that?

Rahman: I said how are you doing, Lieutenant.

Lafizatar: I'm doing pretty well, Captain. ::Zhanyt smiles a bit.:: I was just designing something for our new Commanders.. ::Zhanyt frowns:: Making something that will represent Commander Blake's background might take some time..

Rahman: You wouldn't happen to know anything about... ::gestures to the dancing yellow... things.:: ...those, would you?

Lafizatar: ::straightfaced:: No, I would not, Captain. Do you not like them?

She grinned, chuckling.

Rahman: Nah, they're kinda cute.

Lafizatar: They are at that. ::Zhanyt did actually like some of the more recent history of Earth, when she had had time to browse through it. ::

Rahman: So have you had a chance to look over the local starcharts while you've been on shore leave?

Zhanyt frowned. She had glanced through them a few times, but a lot of what she was doing was actually shoals wide gathering for Starfleet Science.

Lafizatar: Somewhat, although not in depth.

Rahman: The tetryon fields are opening up a bit in the next sector. We should be able to cut through directly on our way to the Donova system. I was wondering if there was anything you might want us to stop and see along the way.

Lafizatar: There's actually a protostar nebula I'd be intersted in seeing how it forms directly with the subspace fractures and tetryon fields. It might be difficult to fly around though.

Rahman: It wouldn't be an issue at all. Besides, I think Lt. Commander Flynn still needs to see more of the sights in his new posting. Give him a little practice navigating the hazards.

Lafizatar: Probably. ::wryly:: But from what I saw in the last mission he probably doesn't need that much practice.

Rahman: Response

Lafizatar: I'm still getting used to the low speeds. It does mean I'm having to read my mail.. ::pausing:: Incidentally, Captain ::Zhanyt waved a bit, the plaque she was designing disappearing::, I received an odd message recently. It was written directly to my posting, which I .. don't know if Starfleet gives out, and it was simply a "Don't look for me anymore." with no signature and obscured headers so I couldn't backtrack beyond Esperance. Is there a way to back track this?

Rahman: Response

Zhanyt looked pensively at the table, her hair obscuring her gold eyes as she debated where to begin.

Lafizatar: Well. It could be my little sister, who disappeared in 2388. She would be approximately twenty-three Federation Standard years. But.. honestly, I'm not sure why she'd not want me to find her. Or.. how she'd know where I am and my duty position.

Rahman: Response

Zhanyt shook her head. She was a still bit unsure about this. She knew the basics of communication equipment, and a bit about how to fix them, but not the indepth mechanics of communication, especially not how to scramble transmissions.

Lafizatar: I haven't had the bandwidth to communicate back to Zeta Pavlonis or Starbase 149 since I got the message. My last message from Captain Salchinas when I sent her the plaque I made her indicated she had heard nothing new about the search. That was about seven Federation months ago.

Salchinas was, as she understood it, actually a member of the Twentieth House of Betazoid, so was also occupied with her house business as well as being a Captain of a important spinward base. And Zhanyt was too culturally Diserk to inquire into private business unless asked to.

Rahman: Response

Zhanyt was about to speak when she saw Wil walk up

Ukinix: ::Pretend posh voice::  Captain.  If I may, I humbly request your participation on the dance floor.

Rahman: Oh? Well, all right then... if that's an order.

Wil placed his hand on his hips and gave a loud whistle through his teeth to get everyone’s attention.

Roshanara rubbed her ear again.

Rahman: ::under her breath:: Oh, we're doing that now are we...

Ukinix: Oi, listen up you lot!  If we somehow got marooned on this planet, we’d want archaeological members of a future species discover that ::Pointing at “VERITAS” letters:: those letters were the subject of some kind of ritual celebration.  Grab a drink, let’s dance!

Zhanyt blinked.. then blinked again. That was an awfully specific comment. She couldn't help but think that had happened before. Or something like it. She watched as the others danced, since she .. wouldn't and didn't really have the pure agility to. Besides.. she found herself thinking about what the Captain had said
