((Sickbay))
Skyfire: Everything alright, Ayden? :: and a formal nod to Commander Blake. :: How’re you doing, Commander?
::In good timing to answer the doctor, Ayden gave a chesty cough, Sky cringing slightly when he failed to cough into his elbow. The Brekkian Betazoid mother assisted her four year old son up onto a biobed, remaining within arms reach of him at all times.::
Blake: Oh, about as well as one can be.
Ayden:::against his cheekbones:: My head hurts...
Skyfire: And what seems to be the problem?
Blake: We've both come down with a cold. This happens to *me* often - generally I wait it out and it clears up after a couple days. But when Ayden gets sick, he stays sick for weeks if we don't jump on it.
::Thanks to his jumbled Vulcan/Brekkian/Betazoid genetics, no doubt.::
Skyfire: Does he have any known allergies to medications? I wasn’t able to find a copy of his medical records anywhere.
Ayden: The nose-people use drawings...
::The Brekkazoid glanced back at her son with an adoring and sympathetic smile, noting his slow delivery (refusing to even try to use his nose to breathe) of that neat little fact he apparently remembered.::
Blake: You mean the doctors in Bintac, mini-man?
Ayden: Yeah.
Blake: You're right - they wrote things down by hand.
::This time, when he coughed, he coughed into his elbow, and Blake ran a hand through his hair. She turned back to Skyfire.::
Blake: I had him brought in for a quick checkup with Ryan when she was here, but beyond that, Ornara really doesn't have the means to fill in the blanks. He's not allergic to any medications I'm aware of.
Skyfire: I see. Well, since colds are usually caused by a virus there aren’t any antibiotics available to treat them. The best thing I can think of for the both of you is lots of rest and fluids.
Blake: I figured as much.
Skyfire: I’d be happy to pass your case onto the resident pediatrician, Dr. Alexander-Dalton for alternative suggestions.
Blake: That's okay. I think I came in primarily to see if you had anything that could at least relieve his headache. I can get a vaporizer into our room for his cough.
::He did not sleep very well last night at all, awake and asleep at varying intervals for various reasons - she'd never understood Terrans and Vulcans forcing their children to sleep by themselves at such a young age (on Brekka, it was close to five years connected to the hip before gently separating them - at which point, kids were generally more than ready to leave their parents alone) but the idea that tonight might be significantly worse had her reconsidering her parenting technique.
::And then she reconsidered reconsidering, because if Sabor had coped when he Ayden was but an infant, Blake could cope now.::
Skyfire: Response?
Blake: If it'll help. Thanks.
Skyfire: Response?
::Ayden cringed, still holding his cheeks, and his mother pulled him into a gentle hug.::
Blake: On an unrelated topic - I still haven't regained the memories I lost during that seizure.
Skyfire: Response?
Blake: Last time it happened, I had them back in a little under a week. This time I've had to actually go back and check my logs - and I lost more than I did last time. I went with Rahman and Rosek to the
Atlantis in the Beta quadrant, and I don't remember a lick of it.
Skyfire: Response?
Blake: I don't know. I'm really worried that I've lost something else and I'm simply not aware of it. My next worry is that tomorrow I'll wake up and not remember my daughter's name.
::It didn't help that she hadn't actually seen Faith in a little under two years. Yes, she kept up with Syb, Faith's current guardian, through numerous letters and such, much like how she did when Ayden had been with them too, but it's been about two years too long.::
Skyfire: Response?
