Raissa noted that she had done a good, but fast job on her breakfast. She wasn’t yet at the savor your food state.
Moonsong: ::nods:: Yes, kitten. Tell George to make sure you have everything for your lesson.
Natalia grinned widely.
Natalia: I will! See you soon Pepe! ::she blew him a slightly sticky kiss and bounced away from the table. All energy and bouncing dark curls.::
Moonsong: ::smiling:: A lot of energy, that one has.
Orrey: Have fun darling. ::smiling and waving before turning his attention to his wife.:: It comes from you.
Moonsong: ::laughs and shakes her head:: Oh no… Not me. I could use her for a backup generator.
Orrey: A binding force. Someone who will keep the world running. ::smiling:: No matter what she decides to do.
Moonsong: And it changes weekly. ::takes a sip of her tea:: You have not been sleeping again.
Orrey: Well, we spent quite a bit of time working on getting some miners out of the way of a hurricane. Nineteen hours, specifically for the rescue team...I mostly entertained the governor.
Moonsong: What else is keeping you awake. ::she raised an eyebrow:: Do not say breakfast, because we both know you could have rescheduled.
Orrey: :smiling as he chuckles:: We both know I would not have for the life of me rescheduled a chance to see the two of you. You both mean the world to me, you know that. All the worlds.
Moonsong: Jansen… I know you, much as I love your compliments.
Orrey: Then you know I am telling the truth. I cannot wait to be back at home.
Moonsong: ::smiles:: I look forward to seeing you.
Orrey: ::nodding:: How is everything else going? Still have the cousins floating around to help with things while I am gone?
Moonsong: Indeed. We would not have much of a ranch if they didn’t. One of your Uncle Duane’s boys has moved in. I have left the running of things to him. There is a new project I will be starting in a week. We will be getting access to cultural data from the Delta Quadrant.
Orrey: I had heard of some movements being made to get a new presence out there.
Moonsong: Indeed. A team is being put together to go out there. ::smiles:: I was asked… but I do not think I will go at this time. Perhaps in a year or so.
Orrey: Are you kidding? It would be a great chance for you and your work.
Moonsong: True… but Natalia is happy here at the moment and that is reason enough for me.
Orrey: Well that is true. Dance lessons are easier with fixed gravity.
Moonsong: And being near family. I want her to have a good foundation before I start dragging her around to research stations… ::pauses:: And it is the best environment for her mental gifts.
Orrey: Getting stronger isn’t she?
They had assumed it would happen, so it had only been right for them to prepare incase it did suddenly spike up.
Moonsong: Not so much stronger, but focused. When she has the rare bad dream… you will know it.
Orrey: ::sitting the food aside nodding:: Well then I will just have to keep her safe and scare the monsters away.
Moonsong: ::smiling:: Having you home for a while, will alleviate some of her fears. She worries about you.
Orrey: Worries about me? What does she worry about like that?
Moonsong: She worries about something happening to you, Jansen. It is perfectly natural. She knows space can be a dangerous place. She was literally born into it. And consider what she experienced while we were all out there.
Orrey: ::nodding his head:: Growing up Starfleet is dangerous...but I will always come back home to the two of you. I made that promise a long time ago on that silly moon with a hot tub and an abundance of stew.
Moonsong: Fish stew.
Raissa said nothing. The universe cared nothing for the promises of humanoids. But that was a discussion she chose to avoid with him.
Moonsong: No offense… but I still cannot bear the thought of it, no matter how you dress it up.
Orrey: ::smirking gently as he reads over her face just like she did his own earlier.:: Your fatalism is showing. But I do understand, the two of us have always traded the worry back and forth. It underlines all of our work. Just like our care does.
Moonsong: Of our care… I have no doubt of that lasting for now and far beyond.
Orrey: Good. ::smiling:: Now I think we should both try and eat some breakfast don’t you?
Moonsong: Indeed… ::taking a few bites:: You should get what sleep you can. You know how the family is.
Orrey: ::pulling his plate back in front of him.:: I will sleep on the transports while I can. Our mornings are more special to me than dreams.
Moonsong: ::taking a sip of her tea:: Do let me know what time you expect to be home. ::smiles:: I will have breakfast waiting for you.
Jansen smiled and settled in to breakfast and the small talk that he had grown so accustomed to as an anchor to the earth for the void born diplomat.
