((Starbase 1, Deck 53, Upper Mezzanine))

Dasal: I think you are pretty cool, oh did you want to try one of these weird spice ball things I got? Tak-o-yaki or something?

Seleya: I am not hungry, but thank you. Takoyaki does bring back funny memories of a date I went on once where the girl ordered them, and then got scared she was being offensive when I made a joke about the octopus tentacles and my Ny’Krl.

He shrugged, wondering what the heck a Ny’Krl was. He then flushed a bit at the thought that the joke might have been offensive. He coughed, clearing his throat as he studied her. She was teasing, he was sure of it. Ah well, he had always had a weakness for funny people anyway, so he ended up just smiling like a goof.

Dasal: Also did I pull you away from something? ::nodding to the PADD:: I can eat quietly if you are doing something important.

Seleya: I was studying. I have an upcoming test for the Intelligence course I am taking to transfer departments. But I could use a break.

Dasal: So what can we do on this station? Think there is stuff like rock climbing. That sounds fun.

Seleya: I believe there are some pretty advanced holodecks for various activities. There is a shopping center. An extensive gym, a few high end restaurants, or clubs if that is your scene.. Plenty of options.

He looked at his bags of random things he had bought. Yeah, he knew there were stores. He had bought way too much, honestly, but it was his first taste of freedom in nearly eight years. Medical school had kept him way too busy.

Dasal: Ya I found some. I’m enjoying the inbetween ship time. Even if it’s what, two days or so.

Seleya: Unfortunately, for the moment I can’t do more than studying. Though this conversation is a nice break, so don’t feel the need to excuse yourself, just yet. Perhaps once I am done with my classes we can plan something.

He smiled broadly, glad he was a good distraction and not a bad one, at least for now. He honestly wanted a break from studying, if only for a short time. He wanted to enjoy life as a Starfleet officer before diving back into his studies. He had passion, but schooling had never really been his thing.

Dasal: I personally am enjoying the small break while moving. I got a snow globe of this place! Isn’t that cool. I was thinking of collecting all the Starbase ones. I got an academy one too, though it is kind of silly. Maybe rocks would be easier… and cheaper.

Seleya: So tell me about Angosia III, what are your people like?

Dasal: Well, it was better than Angosia One and Two! Kidding. Well—actually, I wasn’t. They weren’t habitable. Two is all lava and volcanoes. As for my home, I would’ve said it was a lot like Earth. We had lots of oceans and lots of land. My people were really into science. They were also very peaceful, though also really ashamed of their past. I felt like they let that hold them back.We had a lot of automatic machines and such because everyone was so science-focused. Hmm, we had a lot of naturally beautiful things, but we weren’t the most outgoing people, which was a shame. So no river-rafting teams or anything like that.

What was Khanda like? I’d never heard of it, though, as I said, I was still learning about new species. Like, did you know Romulans and Vulcans were different? It took me an embarrassing amount of time to learn that, and I learned it in a biology class.

Seleya: Respond

He dug around in his bags and pulled out a PADD. He wanted to make notes so he could look things up later and update his own knowledge of the things he was learning. He still couldn’t identify most species on sight.

Dasal: Oh sorry, Taithros. See, still learning.

Seleya: Respond

Dasl: I would like to see it someday. Sounds a lot less boring than my home.

His thoughts drifted to his home and his parents, and he sighed softly as he wished he could do something for his world, to make them feel pride in being scientists from Angosia. Instead, they only seemed to worry about how others viewed them now.

Seleya: Respond
