(( Sherlock-Martinson Quarters, Deck 7, USS Valkyrie-A ))

A night out was rare for Aine and Mel, but they needed it. Moreso Mel than her. Being a reserve officer he was mostly just a stay at home dad, which he didn't seem to mind. But everyone needed a break every now and then so Aine had arranged for a babysitter for the night. The chime at the door indicated said person had arrived and she had the computer open the door.

T’Ama: I’m here.

Sherlock: ::walking into the common area from the bedroom:: Hey, thanks for this. I really appreciate it.

T'Ama stood there, eyeing the room. Aine also looked around, wondering what was off about it as their quarters were pretty standard "Starfleet issue." There were a few small trinkets around, and of course some of the babies toys in the living area. But other than that, it was pretty basic.

T’Ama: Where is she?

Sherlock: Oh, Esme, yeah, Mel was changing her diaper ::beat:: again.

Martinson: ::coming in from the bedroom, baby in hand:: Here she is! All ready to go.

Aine's face scrunched curiously as T'Ama held up a Vulcan salute for a brief second. Esme could barely speak, though she'd only learned that recently and even then the child only could say a couple things: dada and no.

T’Ama: Oh- okay. When will you be back?

Sherlock: I think we should only be gone a couple hours?

Martinson: Yeah, it's just dinner and ::beat:: a little time after.

They didn't really have plans other than dinner but figured some wandering around the ship and "getting lost" might do them some good.

T'Ama: response

Mel handed Esme over to T'Ama.

Martinson: Changing table and all the accoutrements are in the bedroom and if she's hungry you can replicate the formula we have programmed or some baby food. Other than that, there's not much to it. She'll play with her blocks or watch whatever you're watching on the holo.

Sherlock: Have fun.

The parents quickly made their way out of their quarters and the door swished closed behind them. Esme, half a fist in her mouth, watched as her parents left. She wasn't sure what was going on and the woman now holding her wasn't her green skinned aunt, the one she liked so much.

T'Ama: response

The second the woman spoke Esme looked up at her, then back to the door, then back at the woman. She didn't know what to think and did the only thing she could: cry loudly. Her eyes scrunched up, tears forming, drool covered hand reaching for the door.

T'Ama: response
