((Turbolift, Approaching Deck 7, USS Valkyrie))
Is’Kah stood at the back of the turbolift, having just left the Security Suite after zhen duty shift and work out. The petite officer stood at 145 centimeters and had the left side of zhen head shaved from the part line, while zhen's reddish-brown hair came to a point on the right. Zhen Trill spots were visible as they contrasted with zhen golden fair skin due to the lack of hair, as was zhen pointed ear with a bar two-thirds of the way up, and three hoops in the lower part of the lobe. Zha wore an oversized hoodie with "Starfleet Academy” written across the front, black shorts, tights, and hot pink sports shoes.
The lift began to slow as it approached deck seven, prompting the Vulcan/Trill hybrid to wonder who would be joining zhen. The moment the doors opened, zhen question was answered as zha noted Reine’X. Zha recognized her from her personal file, but hadn’t had a moment to speak with her yet.
Is’Kah: Doctor.
Reine’X seemed to pause for a moment before entering the lift. The lack of an immediate request for a destination suggested that the taller officer wasn’t sure yet of where to go. The feeling was somewhat mutual as zha was still learning where everything was. Turning to her, Is’Kah smiled warmly; any trace of a Vulcan's typical stoicism was missing.
Reine'X: Actually, it's Counsellor.::she smiled politely.
The petite hybrid raised an eyebrow but nodded, making a mental note of the preferred form of address regarding her job.
Is’Kah: Ensign Reine’X, I am Lieutenant Is’Kah Xiron, Chief of Security. My pronouns are Zha/Zhen, but she/her is also acceptable. I have you on my list for a welcome aboard interview. As I am on my way to the Valhalla lounge, would you care to join me and share a meal while we complete it?
Reine’X: I would like that very much,::she said, now giving zhen an honest, wide smile.
Is’Kah: Excellent.
Reine’X: Computer, Deck 4.
The lift came to a stop on Deck 4.
Is’Kah: If we go all the way forward, we’ll find the lower half of the Valhalla Lounge. Shall we?
Reine’X: Lead the way, Lieutenant.
Is’Kah: Very well, we go this way.
Zha gestured towards a corridor.
Reine’X: If I may, how long have you been with the ship?
Is’Kah: This ship, five months. Most of the crew cross-decked from the USS Chin’toka, an Akira-refit class.
Reine’X: I see. What do you enjoy most about your work?
The petite hybrid smiled. That was a good question. Zha had been an engineer for the first year of zhen career, then cross-decked to security to fill a need.
Is’Kah: That is less stressful than keeping a ship together with baling wire, duct tape, and blood.
Reine’X: And if you don’t mind me asking a more, hmm, personal question: where are you from?
The petite officer laughed. That was something most people inquired about, as a Trill/Vulcan hybrid wasn’t exactly common.
Is’Kah: Born on Trill, raised on Vulcan, and half my katra is Andorian.
Reine’X: Response
The hybrid paused long enough for the two women to enter the lounge. It was Is’Kah’s first time in the Viking-themed room, but it made zhen feel uncomfortable right away as a shiver went down zhen spine. It almost felt like zhen goddess disapproved of one of her followers entering a room honoring the land of the dead of another pantheon.
The walls were covered in theme-appropriate items, such as shields, longbows, helmets, and other items from Earth’s 13th century. At some point, Is’Kah resolved to explore the room far more thoroughly at a later time. Glancing around, Is’Kah found one of the bartenders and directed Reine’X that way.
Is’Kah: So, funny story about the katra. I visited Ghee’looth Xiron, our Acting Chief Engineer, when she was stationed on Denali on the way to the USS Ronin, my first posting. We drank three bottles of Vulcan brandy and thought it was a good idea to mind-meld. When we woke up, we had bonded.
Reine’X: Response
Is’Kah: Here I thought I was interviewing you. I’ll gladly give you my history over our meal; it’s rather a lot.
Reine’X: Response
