Seleya: So these emitters have been set up by someone. They were here before us, I would be curious if Stillwater is aware of them. Perhaps some people, but I would be curious with their reactions if our findings were to become publicly known to them.

Xiron: Whoever set them up did a good job of disguising them during the listening post set up. The anomaly too gave them cover. Any strange readings in that area of space and we just write it off as another property of this little studied hole in space.

Rasmussen: Clever…

Ada: Response

Xiron: The question is who and for what purpose were they set up. But we will need to find out quickly. Our drive will not like these unwelcomed particles raining on our deflector.

Rasmussen: I would say we could rule out Charn…while there does seem to be oppressed masses I’m not sure they would be capable of this. They don’t have replicator or transporter technology in Stillwater so cloaks seem a bit of a stretch…plus he might nearly have been killed by these things

Seleya: Technology capabilities are not so neat even like that. They are based on many different factors, including necessity. If they didn’t conceive of such technology or did not value it, for even cultural reasons they may not have developed it over focusing on their own speciality. Furthermore, we don’t know if this is Stillwater or another species we have yet to encounter. Lastly, on the concern about our drive with these particles, there must be a local solution, this is a high traffic area with many ships going in and out, damages to people’s warp drives would harm their trade. If this is another species that has a presence out here they must also account for their own engines for the particle bombardment.

Ada: Responses?

Rasmussen: I’m not sure the who matters at this point…the why and the how are probably more vital.

Seleya: I would disagree, I think who matters in that potentially who set up these emitters could lead us to the answers for the other two questions. Perhaps a bit of diplomacy and an offer to disable them could be a valuable avenue. If our offer is accepted we get a chance to examine the emitters with the permission of the people who claim sovereignty of this system, and if they don’t, well that tells us they may be something more at play.

Xiron/Ada: Responses?

Rasmussen: Well – I haven’t been privy to everything…I’m a crewman third class…a new one. Maybe my ignorance can add a new perspective?

Seleya briefly glanced at Rasmussen. She was probably no better off than him here.

Seleya: Your input is valued nonetheless.

Xiron/Ada/Rasmussen: Responses?

Seleya: My research so far has not returned with anything similar to our data. So we are in unknown territory at the moment. Potentially dealing with technology the Federation hasn’t encountered yet.

Xiron/Ada/Rasmussen: Responses?

Seleya: So we need to find out more about these emitters, besides speculating here, we will need to get close and hands on. But at the moment our deflectors are struggling with whatever they are emitting. So we should probably be figuring out how to adjust our deflectors to account for this.

She was mostly looking at Ada and Xiron. This was far from her speciality, she just didn’t want this to devolve into another debate of pure speculation.

Xiron/Ada/Rasmussen: Responses?
