Is’Kah: If we go all the way forward, we’ll find the lower half of the Valhalla Lounge. Shall we?

Reine’X: Lead the way, Lieutenant.

Is’Kah: Very well, we go this way.

Is'Kah motioned towards the corridor. And the Orion woman began asking questions.

Reine’X: If I may, how long have you been with the ship?

Is’Kah: This ship, five months. Most of the crew cross-decked from the USS Chin’toka, an Akira-refit class.

Reine’X: I see. What do you enjoy most about your work?

The  small woman smiled at Reine'X. 

Is’Kah: That is less stressful than keeping a ship together with baling wire, duct tape, and blood.

Reine’X: And if you don’t mind me asking a more, hmm, personal question: where are you from?

Now the Officer laughed. 

oO Maybe the question was fine.Oo

Is’Kah: Born on Trill, raised on Vulcan, and half my katra is Andorian.

Reine’X:  That is, indeed, intriguing. Would you mind explaining a bit more about your Andorian katra? I mean… how is that possible?

The officer paused as they entered the lounge. The Valhalla Lounge was interestingly decorated, and there was something familiar about it for Reine’X. Shields, helmets, and large archery bows; these ornaments reminded her of Klingons. She felt at home. Is’Kah, however, seemed uneasy. 

Then Reine’X realized that she felt out of place; not because of the setting itself, but because she was the only one still in uniform. She wished she could change as soon as possible.

Is'Kah pointed toward the bar, and the two women made their way over.

Is’Kah: So, funny story about the katra. I visited Ghee’looth Xiron, our Acting Chief Engineer, when she was stationed on Denali on the way to the USS Ronin, my first posting. We drank three bottles of Vulcan brandy and thought it was a good idea to mind-meld. When we woke up, we had bonded.

Reine’X:Wow! 

This information genuinely shocked Reine’X. She found herself more interested in this person than ever.

Reine'X: How does such a mind meld work? My best friend, S’afik, is Vulcan, but she was never too forthcoming about it. I suppose it’s still a taboo subject for some.

Is’Kah: Here I thought I was interviewing you. I’ll gladly give you my history over our meal; it’s rather a lot.

Reine’X: Then I’ll have a steak. Raw. ::She glanced only briefly at the bartender:: All right, I’m listening.

Is’Kah: Response

Reine’X: That is truly interesting. So how does it.... I mean, how does it affect you in your everyday life?

Is’Kah: Response

Reine’X: Do you want to go back to the way you were before the mind meld?

Is’Kah: Response

Reine’X: Wait… hold on… is Is’Kah Doucet any relation to our Doctor Doucet?!

Is’Kah : Response

Reine’X: I have some more questions....

Reine’X had always realized that people liked to talk about themselves; and she did too. She was genuinely interested in interesting people, and so far, she had met quite a few of them on this ship.

In any case, this was one of the reasons she wanted to pursue counselling. 

oO Oh, I just wished every patient is as interesting...Oo
