Is’Kah had just finished pouring zhen tea when the door chimed. Zha hadn’t had a chance to interview either of them yet, so this would likely work for that as well.
Is’Kah: Enter.
Standing behind a desk that had been lowered was a 145-centimeter-tall Vulcan/Trill hybrid. The left side of zhen head was shaved from the part line down, showing Trill spots across zhen golden-fair skin, and the bar that went through the upper part of zhen ear and three hoops in the lower lobe.
Strathmore: Hello, Lieutenant, nice to meet you. I am Arthur Strathmore. The new medical officer.
Lennai: Ensign Vaysha Lennai. We've met.
Is’Kah: I am Lieutenant Is’Kah Xiron, Chief of Tactical and Security. I use Zha/Zhen and She/Her pronouns. Please, have a seat.
Zha gestured toward the full-sized chairs, making it look as if they were sitting at a child's desk.
Strathmore: Thank you.
Lennai: Of course.
Sitting, Is’Kah sipped zhen tea, looking over the pair of junior officers. After a moment long enough to start to get uncomfortable, zha spoke in a monotone.
Is’Kah: I understand that you were involved in an attempted kidnapping. Can you please explain what happened?
Strathmore: Yes, a madman tried to bring us back to New France.
Lennai: Kayvaan was his name.
Is’Kah: Who is this Kayvaan then?
Strathmore: Well that’s a story in itself.
The way Arthur looked at Lennai suggested that she would be the one to explain.
Lennai: He had a bit of a vendetta against us after an incident on shore leave almost two years ago now, I believe. ::Crossing her arms.:: Me and him got into a physical altercation.
Strathmore: He said some terrible things.
Lennai: Yes, I broke his jaw after he insulted me.
Raising an eyebrow, Is’Kah resisted the urge to rub zhen jaw as phantom pain appeared deep in the bone from the last time it had been broken.
Is’Kah: That seems understandable. What happened to him after that?
Strathmore: We don’t know what happened to him. We just walked away. He was belligerent.
Lennai: Incredibly so. It must have been radically embarrassing for him in hindsight, I can imagine why he'd want to get his revenge. But to go as far as he did.. he seemed to be acquainted with a group you're aware of, Arthur? A cult?
The petite officer slightly tilted zhen head. Cults tended to be bad and caused much suffering for their members.
Strathmore: Presumably, he joined up with them on New France. How or why, I do not know.
Lennai: May have something to do with us getting him fired and ruining his life. ::Muttering.::
The Trican’s ears twitched; that explained much about why he attacked.
Is’Kah: Can you explain what happened today?
Strathmore: Response
Lennai: Ah, yes, from the top -- we were going on a canoeing adventure. It was framed as a tourist spot, and it started out normally enough.
She glanced at Arthur to continue.
Is’Kah gave Strathmore a look that suggested he’d regret not telling the whole story despite keeping a neutral expression.
Strathmore: Response
Lennai: Then he revealed the entire island was jammed of communications. He was ominous before, but nothing truthfully telling -- not to mention him changing his entire face to appear as someone else entirely.
If Is’Kah hadn’t been sitting ram-rod straight, zha would have straightened in shock. That could

Strathmore: Response
Pursing zhen lips, Is’Kah thought for a moment before pulling out a small device and placing it in the middle of zhen desk.
Is’Kah: Please press your forefinger to this device. It will perform a test to confirm that you are not changelings or other shapeshifters.
Strathmore/Lennai: Response
Putting the device away, Is’Kah nodded. The results were as expected.
Is’Kah: Thank you. It’s been standard protocol in this office to test everyone since Frontier Day.
The hybrid sent a message to S’Porc to conduct a changeling text on their visitor in the brig.
Strathmore/Lennai: Response
Is’Kah: Please, continue your story. What happened after he told you about the jamming device? Did the two of you recover it?
